2008 Canadian Grand Prix - Race 7/18

So by your view, Lewis is in the clear. He made an error, same as Kimi. He tried to do the least amount of damage upon realising that error, as you say so did Kimi; yet he was punished. Why wasn't Kimi? There's no clear line at all. Plenty of other incidents that are open to scrutiny. There is no rule that states a driver must no lock up his breaks and run into the back of someone in the pit lane....

As I say that's my view; and I won't change what I think. I've seen all the replays I could want, however I stand by my view. The rules are a bag of **** and need to be sorted out in the interest of racing.

No, there is a rule that says you must stop for red lights, there isn't one regarding an error braking.

I'm well aware of that, just as I'm well aware of the face that there is a rule for unsportsmanlike behavior.

I'll reiterate, my view is firm, I will stand by it. Agreeing to disagree is what we should do :p

And no, I'm not a Lewis fan boy before you ask :D

Had Kimi not been parked there, Hamilton wouldve ran the red light and got disqualified. The FIA could disqualify him, but it wont make any difference as he didnt finish the race.

When Kimi ran into the back of Sutil, Sutil wouldve finished 4th (I think it was), yet he got absolutely no credit for the race and Kimi received no penalty. So the fact that Kimi mightve gone onto win the race, shouldnt make any difference to the decision.

If it could be shown that Hamilton rammed into the back of Kimi on purpose, then he should be punished, but when he hit his brakes hard to prevent hitting Kimi, he shouldnt be punished.

Was it intentional? I would say yes as Hamilton could have kept straight and hit Kubica but decided to swerve left and hit Kimi. There was also space to the left of Kimi so Hamilton could have aimed for the gap and tried to out drag Kimi and Kubica out of the pits.

With regards to the gearbox rule, Massa stopped in second practice session and as the marshalls were trying to move his car behind the wall, hit the rear wing/rear left wheel off the wall so how would that work if the gearbox was damaged?

AFAIK a gearbox change is a gearbox change, no matter why it is changed.

Wondering the same myself. NathanE Would make a great ITV commentator. Nothing is ever the messiahs fault from his point of view.

Here are a few quotes from me that I have made in this thread...

"... obvious details (such as LH making a mistake)..."

"I have never denied that LH lost concentration. But can you really blame him. It's a pretty normal thing for a racing driver to do... whack a speed limiter on and give your head a few seconds of rest. He saw the two cars in front side by side clearly drag racing each other. He certainly won't make that mistake again."

"And considering the amount of hassle the Canada pit lane causes almost every year it is no surprise to me that this incident with LH has happened. I don't know what they could do to improve it - maybe they need to add more pit lane exit lights so that drivers can't possibly not see them!"

"Agreed but TBH the FIA should clarify their decisions a bit more to prevent these comparisons from being drawn."

"I am starting to accept the fact that LH can become a bit hot headed when it matters most. IMO what happened today was a combination of inexperience and hot headedness from thinking "damn I've just lost two positions in this pit stop!" He was thinking more about how he was going to get back to 1st than thinking about the SC and red light factors. The good thing is that, in time, LH will improve in these areas. He certainly isn't the first racing driver to go through this."

"He should think long and hard about the next race as he cannot afford to not finish that race and really needs to be 2nd or 3rd if he doesn't want to start falling off the WDC race."

"...even if Hamilton didn't make the mistake..."

Please read the thread if you are going to post pointless cheap shots at me.

Do it DO IT!!!!
:D
(or a "hey Knip" while hes winking at the camera :p )

LOL

He is in for a Team Debrief, funny as it is the 1st one he has bothered coming to all season. I know he doesn't live local but..... Webber on the other hand has been to all but one.

Well he has a Pub/restaurant just down the road from the factory and i believe a house in Thame. So not a million miles away.

See I was being flippant and referring to where he is originally from.
