2008 Canadian Grand Prix - Race 7/18

after being off the pace a little early in practice he spent a good 20 mins during the second session in the garage giving feedback and tweaking a presume. Seems it worked as hes pretty quick around here

Wait, so I just caught the last 10 minutes of the live, saw Hamilton flaming round the track with Kubica looking semi-reasonable.

What's happened to the Renaults? Are they just rubbish? No brakes on both of them?

Blatent low fuel lap by Hamilton at the end :/

Raikkonen's last, and I believe quickest, lap was also a low fuel lap it seemed, single flying lap and as soon as he crossed the line it was low rev's cruise to the pits...

What the **** are Honda doing.

Uh....doing what they've been doing ever since the end of 2004 - massively under-achieving. Thought that one was obvious....

:)

So, who wants to bet that it'll be lauded as "Senna-esque" by the ITV commentary team?

And that, I promise, is the last time I moan about that. It was obviously winding some of you up by the end of the Monaco thread, and no amount of complaining I do will stop ITV making ridiculous comparisons between Hamilton and Senna. Though I'll just say one last thing on this subject - why does he have to be "Senna-esque"? Why can't he just be Hamilton? Is that so bad?

But they came 4th in the championship in 2006 and gained their first win?

2004:

Button finishes third in the championship, Sato finishes 8th. BAR-Honda finish 2nd in the constructors, comfortably ahead of Renault.

2005:

Button 9th, Sato 23rd, BAR-Honda 6th.

2006:

Button 6th, Barichello 7th, Honda 4th.

2007:

Horror show.

So yeah, they've under-achieved. They've gone from being the best of the rest behind a dominant Ferrari, to being mid-pack. Then to worst of the top four. Then tail-end charlies.

Actually, we should be okay regarding comparisons with Senna. He only ever won twice in Canada. Maybe this time it'll be Schumacher-esque? I mean, he did win the Canadian GP 7 times. Surely that would make a repeat win for Hamilton easily on that level....

Damn it. Stop making me go back on my promise!

Can you promise to stop using The Messiah™ and Petulant Spanish Git™, as well? :p

Hey, I've not referred to Hamilton as The Mes-....that for ages now.

As for Alonso - I can't make that promise. The guy is talented, but....he is a Petulant Spanish Git™ :D

yup, a lot of people forget 2004 due to ferrari wining so much, but honda was really the only team to challenge ferrari that year...:(

btw JRS i wasnt attacking US racing as bad as you make out, i used to love watching CART with Zanardi, Vassa, Greg Moore etc but we all know what happend to CART and IRL sucks... Nascar is boring (to me) and even though one of my favorite drivers is in it (montoya) i cant bring myself to watching it, IF im flicking through the channels i might stop and stay there if i spot it, but i dont make an effort to watch any American motorsport anymore.

My main point is americans support there own product/sports more than anything else, but it was not helped by the fact it used Indy and that horrible track. If your going to goto indy at least race on the oval...... :(
