---2012 Nexus Phone facts/rumours/info thread---

But most of those aren't really an issue for most people. The CPU/ram, unless you're using games Iddon'tsee an issue

And the Iphone crowd would buy a poo if it had iphone 6 on it (some of tgem)

Its just not worth the extra hundreds.

For me it needs
Bigger battery
Bigger storage
Different look

I can see what you mean, but if all those areas that I have listed are indeed much improved over the GN, then it really is worth upgrading from the GN to it. It might not sound like much improvement in real world usage as the GN with JB is very good, but you do notice it in day to day usage i.e. all the people that upgraded from the GS 2 to the GS 3 have said that after having used the GS 3 for a few weeks, they have noticed just how much better it is due to the minor improvements in things like audio, battery, camera etc. and the GS 2 is better than the GN in pretty much every way except the display and stock android and for some, looks/build.

I personally notice a difference when I compare my one S (S4) to the quad exynos GS 3 in terms of snappiness/instant feel i.e. loading apps, loading game levels, loading the gallery etc.

You're right about the 2GB RAM, not an issue for a lot of people, but as shown in the videos posted by kona, it makes multi-tasking much better, you can do so much without apps closing and the tabs in the browser reloading when you switch back to it.

True about the iphone owners :D :p

As I said, battery life in theory should be very good, as the one XL (S4 dual with a 1800mAh and 4.7" 720 IPS display has the best battery life [excluding the note II, RAZR HD etc.], better than the GS 3)

Here are some reviews of the LG optimus G, pretty much the same as the LG nexus 4 specs, although we can't really judge battery and the camera (but it looks very promising in the below reviews), as the software/drivers plays a very big part in those areas:

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/10/lg-optimus-g-review/

The display looks and sounds epic, can't wait to see how it compares to the likes of the note II, one X, GS 3 and iphone 5. Everything else sounds very good as well.

TBH, I rather they kept the design/look for the LG nexus 4 the same as the optimus G, might not be as comfy to hold but it looks so much better!

EDIT:

Essentially the main areas that people hate about the GN have been improved:

- audio
- camera
- hardware (a lot of people didn't buy the GN due to the hardware being worse than the GS 2)

Whats the point in an epic display if you haven't got the storage to put any videos or pictures on it :p

True, 16GB is a bit on the low side for some.

For me it is just fine :p

Got over 1000 photos (like 1.5-3MB for a normal shot), which includes 1080P (1MB for 1 second of footage) and slow motion video recordings on my S along with emulator ROM files, wallpapers, icons etc. and I still have 4GB (10GB in total for videos, photos etc.) left. I have over 80 apps installed (which includes quite a few games i.e. dead trigger, dead space, where's my perry etc.) and I have got 1.39GB for apps left out of 2.21GB.

I could still fit a couple of 720P TV episodes on my phone or 1 720P encoded film. Plus, I backup the photos and videos, which I take each day to my PC so if needs be, I could free up like 3-5GB of storage.

I have 2GB of music as well, but use google music for it.

If people plan on throwing their entire music collection on to the phone :p then I can see 16GB being an issue, but if not then it should be just fine.

^ I've always got ~200MB free no matter what I do (only 4GB generated by the camera, 3GB for music/podcasts and 2 games) It's PAINFUL! Totally wrecks the HOS for me, micro managing your files is ****!

Samsung have started manufacturing 128GB embedded NAND chips, it's shameful companies are crippling phones to pushing cloud services or trying and failing to copy Apple's mark-up system.

If people plan on throwing their entire music collection on to the phone

Until such time as there is solid 4G coverage across the whole country, a lot of people will.

I have zero media on my Nexus 7. No pictures, no music, no videos, they are all streamed from my network. All I have on it is a fairly moddest selection of apps and games. Out of the 16GBs I currently have just over 4GBs free.

16GBs on a phone is simply not enough. 8GBs is actually insulting.

The problem is, they aren't failing at all. Removing any expandable storage options means you simply have no choice.

Just look at the iPad Mini rumours. 300 Euros for 56GBs of flash memory. Its daylight robbery, but you watch them sell by the millions.

I still reckon there will be a 32GB option, if it turns out there isn't then this definitely is not the phone for me. Shame really as I fancied an upgrade... even though my S2 is still pretty awesome with CM10 on it.

Just read/watched Engadget review, this thing actual looks and sounds like a great phone, the screen isnt as good as the One X (Just love that screen and build to bad everything else was meh), but the build is really good, everything is super fast and having stock android on that would fix most of its issues. Myriam Joire (Engadget reviewer who is generally good with photos and cameras) said the camera was better then that on the One X/S3, albeit the auto focus was a bitch on there. Got 8+ video playback which seems to be good, hopefully its a bit better with 4.1 as it did improve the S3.

Super long video review went through a lot of the phone, http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/19/lg-optimus-g-review-a-quad-core-powerhouse-with-nexus-aspiratio/

Looks like the LG software isn't that well optimized, performance (in benchmarks) should be a lot better and battery should be better too.

Will be interesting to see how it is with stock android instead and how the HTC butterfly compares to.

But yeah, it looks superb! Looks so nice too (prefer the one X/S design still though)

Yeah I still like HTC design, but its really great to see LG making some good phones and not just another Samsung knock off, its also great to see android OEM taking build serious now, put pressure on Samsung I guess, but no doubt they could release another plastiky phone and still steal 90% of android market.

Was hoping for a Nexus 5 but no substantial leaks so probably only a Nexus 4.

So we have:

Nexus 4,
Nexus 7,
Nexus 7 3G,
Nexus 10,
Nexus Q

5 nexus products? Nexus 5...

Google has also been working with Samsung to launch a 10-inch tablet, confirming leaks which suggested Google had teamed up with the Korean manufacturer for another device. Our source tells us that internally the tablet goes under the name “Codename Manta”, runs Google’s new Android 4.2 operating system (previously referred to as Key Lime Pie, but is set to retain the Jelly Bean branding), and will offer a 2560×1600 pixel (16:10) resolution, which we believe will offer around 300 pixels per inch (PPI) compared to the new iPad’s 264 PPI.

looking forward to this if true.
