5800X Boost set to 5050Mhz all cores with AMD Curve Optimizer

LOL everyone always says that,it is normal intel CPU.I will check the internet, since I have not even used my Intel machines for years,if it is good I will post BIOS settings and make a thread just like this one.

Can't wait, love a good Gerard thread on PBO. Highlight of Tier 3 lockdown

Anyone ever get kernal power failure event id 41 error codes from random system reboots? my 5950x has PBO on which is running supposedly stable settings and it passes validation in stress tests but then the PC randomly reboots and starts posting while the PC is just idling at desktop

Try disabling c-states and see how it goes.

Have exactly the same issue. Tried everything I can to solve it. Gave up in the end & turned PBO off for now until the bios gets updated

change psu status in bios can help

Sounds like curve optimiser settings that are not quite stable.

You'll get c states in bios under advanced settings. Did a Google last night and seemed to sort this issue for some. Think it was to do with maybe older psus and the super low draw of these chips when power saving.

Will check it out thanks. The psu is a brand new Corsair hx1200i

The bios had two seperate overclocking profile loaded - PBO and an all core 4.3ghz 1.26v profile - both the all core and PBO profiles crash BUT if I reset the BIOs to stock the crashing goes away. Both of these profiles also have a memory overclock so I need to check that the memory is stable too

Ok, so after more testing the XMP 3600 CL14 memory is totally stable but both PBO and all core CPU overclocks are a problem and I don't know why

@Grim5

Rather than disabling C States which can lower boost frequency, look for an option called Power Supply Idle Control in the AMD CBS menu. Set this to typical. If your issue is related to C States, this should address it.

Thanks for the tips.

I changed the PSU idle control to Typical = still crash
Then I disabled C states = still crash

This is the current PBO settings (curve optimizer/advanced PBO settings are disabled)

What else can I try?

Update, I reset all the PBO settings and copied all the settings I found in this video, except for curve optimizer - as soon as I enable curve optimizer the PC crashes at the windows login screen.

The system is now stable :)

So I can build from this. Only issue with the settings in this performance loss. The PBO settings image above gives 11000 cinebench r20 multi and 630 single. The settings from this video gives 10700 multi and 610 single.
Any ideas which settings can be tweaked a bit to get performance up?

Funny thing though with these settings, they seem to produce higher clocks yet performance is lower. For example single core shows up to 5240mhz yet score dropped from 630 to 610.

I thnk fmax enhancer might be causing that, should I disable it or does something else need tweaking

Yes, leave all of those on auto and setup pbo through advanced options instead.

Also try leaving pbo on auto, scaler auto, curve to - 30 on all. That gave me my highest r20 score. (9k+ on 5900x)
