7700k delided CPU delided

If they come to me which I asked them to then yes same.

Saintjimmy paid for 5ghz but as I have said before 5.1ghz is very often possible on these CPU's as can be seen on the screenshots. We under promise over deliver.

SaintJimmy's CPU didn't have a lid on when it was delivered. There's little doubt that you'd binned it correctly, but there's no doubt that after that things went a bit wrong.

The problem is fixed. These instances are very low around 2% and the customer has ended up with a better than advertised product. Yes the issue should not have happened but I think it's been dealt with as well as possible.

Well you can't really do any more than you have other than looking into who is doing this deliding so badly.

mine will be sent in a few days

Outcast I requested your RMA also comes directly to me. If we did not already process it then I will test it.

OK I confirm this Cpu will come to me to be fixed and tested.

If anyone has any problems in the future just let us know. I started looking for anti static chip boxes with custom print today but didn't really turn up much.

If you need anything urgently if Ian is busy and not on the forums shoot me a message on the "ask a question" box on the bottom right of the main site, I answer most of those myself

Was more thinking custom box like previously posted about and placing the chip in CPU clam shell inside the box.

Take this Asus box as shown here:

You have it all matt black, you have 8-Pack signature card in the holder. The foam can be cut out to take the clam shell and as the paste is shown with what you provide accordingly. In the wallet on the lid you could have a printout of the clocks and benches achieved with the CPU and also provide some advertising for other 8-Pack ranges in it as well. The lid itself has a large Silver 8-Pack logo for the 4.9 & 5.0GHz chips, Gold logo for the 5.1 & 5.2GHz chips.

The cost of the clam shell is like 30p each if you order 100 (just going off flebay) so I could imagine you could get a better deal and the box cost you are looking at around £2.50 per box. Again might be cheaper for you to order bulk but that is for a 100x100x30mm flip box with matt exterior finish and foam insert.

I do think the clamshell is a good idea to keep the chip from being knocked about, I agree that the lid shouldn't fall off in transit, period.

My post was more in reference to the fact I couldn't find any freely available custom packaging providers who would do what we need through Google. Though I'll admit it's not something I've ever had to search for before. I'm sure someone in the office will know where to look :)

Plastic clamshell or the old style cpu sized cardboard box with foam pads is all you need, OCUK always used to sell OEM processors like this so no idea why things changed.

Do people really care about fancy packaging?

It goes in the bin, lol.

Lots of people do.

I'm a sucker for good packaging personally.

Put a bottle of rum in a nice bottle in a fancy box and that's going straight in my basket :D

I think at least some effort into the packaging takes away some of the "oh, is that it?" element to receiving something that you've forked out your hard earned money for though. Some people won't care, but it'll be nice to show that we actually care about our presentation.

Yes because otherwise it wouldn't done ever as it is another overhead the company picks up. Marketing and packaging is there for a reason. Yeah not everyone will be worried by it but a fair % are. It is how companies can help to distinguish and define the level of a product.

Take in the way 8-Pack systems are delivered in flight cases by a two man team. Now think really if this is needed. As long as the team delivered it and it was packed well in a non branded box then it would still be safe and sound and all that but it misses something of what the customer is buying into and with what the 8-Pack branding stands for.

I just googled custom packaging to find the details of said box, they do options for things like custom foam inserts and logo design but you have to call to be more specific in spec but the box was a 100x100x30mm flip lid with all black matt finish with single colour logo external. Am just glad you guys are looking into it and taking feedback because regardless of the issues thus shown it really nails down that you are willing to listen and care about your product and that is what is important.

Tempted to contact OCuK about my 5GHz 7700k. It looks a bit toasty for my liking.

Here is testing with RealBench earlier at 4.8Ghz @ 1.35 vCore (3200MHz Memory (XMP), VCCSA 1.1, VCCIO 1.1)
Will try re seating my cooler and TIM later first though just incase...

What cooler you using? If a lower end air or AIO it could be reaching those temps. A high end 240 AIO or Nocuta NH-D15 is really what is suggest to keep the 7700K cool at higher overclocked speeds. And if you are in a silent case with lots of padding etc that will also be an issue with decent air movement.

This is shown by the listing showing the Asetek 240 AIO as minimum really. I would say if you are within that region though that it is also stated you only need 1.39 Vcore for 5.0GHz and the temps maxing around 70 degree would be right. You could try dropping your Vcore at the 4.8GHz setting first to see if temps drop as well as you are likely to be able to get them down to 1.32Vcore. (not guaranteed and just based on feedback of the 7700K online).
