8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

Idk,I'm baffled too,I tried everything aswell, all I can put it down to is very good BIOS support for that ram/mb combo, till I getsum to try myself Idk

Lmao its funny tho

Sorry but it has to be ran at 4.5ghz and then downclocked and screenshot taken.

I'd expect 4.0ghz and that ram to give around 8 mins 20 seconds.

4.5ghz is just over 10% faster than 4ghz obviously.

7 mins 45 seconds is around 10% quicker than 8 mins 20 seconds.

Sorry if I am wrong...

Sadly wasn't able to go sub 8mins, just don't seem able to go cl8 on my sammys. Also a bit surprised to see so many i7's!

I also had to update my bios, to get the 40 x 100 to work properly, which also improved memory stability a touch.

On another note I have some Micron D9GTR here (2x1gb) it is OCZ platinum 1800 8-8-8... I was hoping to have a play around with it.

But I can't even get it to boot windows at 1333mhz 9-9-9 and 1.85v :S

It cost £150 back in the day! If anyone knows why it won't work on my gigabyte z77 board then please let me know!

edit: my board is the gigabyte z77x-up5 th

The F10b, surprising that it seems more stable than I remember, cos I did go back to F9 shortly after I got my board.

Also windows8 now thinks my computer is broken :( lol so something else to sort out now ;)

Check the maths....

8min 20s = 4ghz
7min 45s = ??? ghz

Speed ratio = 8.33333/7.75 = 1.075 = 7.5%

Turbo frequencies 4.0 , 4.1 , 4.2, 4.3

4.3/4 = what exactly ? Yep 7.5% :D

Well I did this with a 2500k so it doesn't seem impossible:

If it was aimed at me as well:

I'm sure IF any results have been faked, 8 pack will have no bother finding them. Especially when you consider the guy has probably done thousands of pi runs in his career.

Don't be like that, enter and compete against others using similar setup.

I know I can get it down to around 9 mins. I have about 20 pages of notes on settings that work and dont etc from my days on MWbot competing although that was trying to get the best times at almost 5ghz the theories are still the same.

Just not worth putting the effort in tbh

Indeed.

Thinking about it, i could easily get under 8-seconds by cheating, it's actually very, very simple.

Looks like fun, will be entering this later :)

@ The whiners, I can do 4GHz on a first gen i3 with ease, hell I could prob manage it on a E8400 if I wen't all out on it, stop complaining about a chance to win free stuff, nobody's forcing you to enter, tbh I'm entering for the fun aspect .

Good for you but the point still remains that with an i3 you arent going to win. Nobody is saying you are forced to enter but a Haswell cpu will win it without a doubt which seems silly since the prize is a haswell upgrade kit

hmm, wazza's result are interesting (I would like to know what board), see he's _just_ crept in under the 101% rule, since ram mhz seems to be king, I might have another stab at it, just wondering how much I would have to relax the timing to get 2400mhz on the ram or even if it will post.
