8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

PCZ, you seem to know a lot more than most when it comes to Benching SuperPi.

So far I'm using a very stripped XP, booted into diagnostic mode, Pci Lock and Max Mem at 600, page file disabled and large system cache enabled as well as Waza, anything I'm missing? Although I'm not sure if getting any closer to your time with this chip is going to be possible, as I'm now 99% certain I'm IMC limited now going by the pretty hard wall I'm hitting with memory frequency, combine with how close to stock timings I'm running even at just shy of 1800Mhz

Have you tried reducing the NB speed a tad and upping the RAM speed ?
Same settings as I was using.
If you up the volts on the RAM make sure you up the CPU-NB volts as well.

Instead of a diagnostic start, try a selective start and deselect everything.
No need for Themes and Plug n Play.

Make sure your USB key is plugged in before the OS loads and you wont need plug n Play to find it.

Run more than once, later runs will be slightly quicker than the first.
Try with explorer disabled.
Task manger will kill it and also start it again as it has a run function.

Cant give away any more than that.

I can't up the ram voltage above 1.65 any more gives me stability problems even at stock settings.

I sat down Sunday night and gradually increased the memory clock while keeping the Cpu-nb and clock speed as close to stock as possible to find the max I could get on the ram, which is what im actually running. Then did the same with the notthbridge, it's actually good for another 30-40mhz roughly but I can't push that without losing a lot of ram frequency. Already killing explorer, and disabling plug and play, my os has themes stripped out already.

Wish try running a couple of consecutive runs if that makes a difference, was running an 8M followed by 32M before.

Got to go off to work now.
Later I will turn the AMD on and check the BIOS settings.
Sure I raised another voltage to get RAM stable.

I don't dictate anything - it's 8 pack's thread.

My preference was for us not to get extra tips from a pro overclocker until the competiton is over. If everyone is running the same tweaks then it only comes down to the hardware. Not that it mattered in the end - you already pulled out a sub 7:25 time on your own.

Pointless for the compertition but thought I'd share as there are no trinity systems on the tables so far - not last anyway :)

I meant that to be tongue in cheek but it is sometimes difficult to convey in a text post.

how far do the Samsung green clock to on haswell pcz? have you tried?

good question.
I am rather spoiled by having the TG ram now and haven't used the greens.
I have 4 of them, 2 are OK clockers and 2 are so so.
Could give them a try I suppose.

I can't see anyone getting close to your time PCZ, unless someone is quietly working in the background waiting until the very last minute with a pot of ln2 perhaps :)

I may buy whats on Today Only, my current ivy is a average clocker and a friend is willing to buy my mobo.

This thread has been incredibly quiet, is that an indication that few have moved to haswell or are people just not interested?

Probably because most people that have ivy/sandy/amd know they've not got much chance in getting anywhere near the top spot.

I'm just in it for fun, me and Kei probably fought harder for our scores than any of the Intel systems.

True.

A couple weeks ago I was benching super pi non stop, incredibly addictive. Managed to clock my ram to 2624mhz 10-13-11-18 at 1.86v. Can't do much more with my ram, it's only supposed to run 2133mhz 9-11-10-28.

Currently have the best ivy score so I'm pleased with that :).

I don't suppose that bios patch etc for amd cpu's would help your super pi times? Not sure if your cpu is one that would benefit.

I'm waiting in my house for a delivery, that is all.

Its Bulldozer and Piledriver only afaik, otherwise I'd be all over it. I only need another second to beat PCZ

True... Going to be very difficult indeed to beat that time, without some super-clocking RAM. Very few sticks seem to be able to go beyond 2660Mhz at C9 on air; at least not sticks that you can buy from a retailer (seems that 2Gb sticks of PSC can sometimes manage C8 at 2800Mhz, but that's not something you can buy).

I recon I'll be able to manage 7:28, or maybe 7:27 if I'm lucky. Sub 7:25 is just a pipedream though.

Some new RAM? :)

... or something a bit chillier?! :D

I've got some 2Gb PSC sticks that are doing 1792mhz C7 on stock volts :D shame my IMC doesn't like frequencies any higher

I've got some old BBSE ripjaws which do 2000 c8 but dont like speed, and are incredibly fussy.

i.e. changing one of the memory settings such as TWCL down a notch results in an endless amount of reboots but then after about the 8th reboot, it amazingly boots into windows and is fine. It's the same story with a lot of the other timings, especially tertiary timings.
