8 Packs 4ghz 32m Challenge win full Haswell 4770K Bundle.

Yeah gaming mostly, I do a little video editing but tbh the speed increase from hyper threading doesn't interest me, it's plenty quick enough as it is.

4670k is enough for my needs, will probably get one with a asus MVIG.

I've been having a go at this with my New 4770k an currently the best I've managed is 07m 38.566s on windows 8.
100.41Mhz X 40 @ 1.1v
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133Mhz Kit @ 2400Mhz 10-12-11-26-102 1T (1.65v)
But I dont seem to be able to go any tighter timings and still boot or go to higher speeds and get any sensible timings, have booted it at 2700Mhz but the timings were something like 14-15-15-36. I have tried upping the ram voltage but it doesnt seem to make any difference to my ability to boot.

Am I doing something wrong or do these sticks just not overclock well at all? I kinda purchased them because the initial stuff I'd heard was that they are good overclockers.
I'm running them on a Gigabyte Z87X-OC.

I Have a copy of XP SP3 that I'm planning to through onto a spare disk and strip down and tweak I understand this should take a fair amount off my time? up to 10 seconds?

Opera browser and Photobucket do not get on well together.

2600Mhz

A challenger appears :D

Some nice sparkly new RAM - new toys are always fun :) Hynix IC? Should be a nice mix compared to the rest of us running Samsung. You'll need to hope it clocks well at C9, or VERY well at C10 to beat PCZ though. Either that or find some innovative OS tweaks... Best of luck!

For a minute I thought you were going to post a pic of some LN2 and a RAM pot. In that case we would have all been doomed :p

I noticed there is a new BIOS for the OC board (F5q) which says it has enhance DDR performance.

I did my run using the B10 bios which 8 Pack said rocks in SuperPI.

You see the 26 value? can you not get that to 19/18?

@stulid, Yes I think I have previously dropped it lower but I'd pushed it up to try and lower the others further, I thought I must have been missing something seems I couldn't get the ram to go much higher speed or even staying at 2133 it didn't want to drop the timings.

8 packs says they are either Hynix or Samsungs IC's, heres hoping:)

P.S I have XP burnt to disk now, hope it installs :p

Any reviews of that RAM kit ?
My google powers are weak today

out of interest how much does XP sp 3 save from say windows 8? generally cba installing xp to find out.

Wow that much? that could put me under 8 mins. still not sure if I have the energy to bother trying it.

I'm happy with my 1600mhz ram running at 2070 considering the ram cost me £20 ^^

Yea, it can certainly make a big difference

Seems like a couple of us have good clocking 1600mhz ram mine is running 7-8-6 @ 1792mh, but either my processor or board are holding me back pushing it any further.

I haven't tried bringing it down to cas 9 yet but I suspect it will be a no go.

bringing it down from 11-12-12-28 to 10-11-11-27 shaved a whole second off which was quite impressive.

Might have another play when i get in tonight. it's a good waste of a couple of hours and rather interesting

I must have spent 40 hours if not more running pi for this, I'm now at a point where the most I can reduce my time by is a hundred or two milliseconds here and there.

Try bumping vccsa & vtt voltages, increased pll may help too, try 1.2v, 1.2v, 1.9v. Increasing sa to 1.21v & dram voltage to 1.725v allowed me to lower cr amongst a few other things.
