8700K OcUK Stock and Binned Processors

We offered an uprated cpu at a cost..something we have sold thousands of in the past. We do it all the time.

The first 7980XE's that come in will be all binned too and the next lot of 7900x because a supply shortage exists.

To be honest this thread just needs to be closed. Products were sold for a profit. Shock horror. Some people didn't get one. Boohoo. The world is still spinning and I'm sure most people have got better things to worry about than having a new CPU that in all likelihood will be replaced by a better one in 12 months.

This is the thing I get what people are saying but also they are a business and we have all saved money in the past due to Gibbo putting on great offers either weekly/special/Black Friday so they do need to recoup money else where and tbh 8pack is a specialist in what he does you have to pay for that but you also get support service after said purchase

Always find it funny when people complain about "greed" because they didn't get their material good but others did who were willing to pay more of their own money for it.

"I want it now! And I want it for less! If you don't give it to me then you are greedy!!!"

People just like to moan though. Hardly ever see a 6 page thread on how great it was they got a new monitor for half price etc. It's a complete non issue, people just can't seem to accept there was hardly any stock globally on release. The only reason I haven't bought a pre binned one is I am waiting to see what price the APEX board comes in at and I don't want to commit to it if it won't be delivered by the time I get home on R n R in mid November.

I purchased pretty much everything for my parvum build a few years ago when they had weekly sales or Black Friday I just left it to build up then put it all together saved me a fortune. Like you say when has there been a 6 page thread on thanking them for such savings? I thank them buy trying to stay loyal, sometimes you can get bits cheaper but in the long run they are number 1 in my opinion

So true, definitely a +1, made me chuckle a good one that did.

I ordered a retail 87000k on launch day, if OCUK were to get more stock tomorrow, would it be used to fill retail orders or would it be binned?

I would like to think, that now the product is launched, they go by the time of the order, proper first come first served, I suppose it depends on if the ordering system tracks the minute and second the order was placed or just the minute. As there could well be hundreds of orders with the same minute, whereas a much smaller amount if tracked by the second.

I'm sure a proportion of any future retail stock will be binned but at least they aren't taking pre-orders on those chips. I would be slightly narked if someone placing a pre-order today took priority over my order, which I have already paid for after all.

Will never know unless OcUK said what the practice was going to be. If it were my business, those who paid more would receive first though right through the preorders regardless of time. A 2-3000 quid system build is surely priority over a 800 quid chip which in turn is priority over a 350 quid stock order?

I don't think that's what people are complaining about at all and is just a strawman. There are other concerns like the one just above.

Customers have pre-ordered a product, for which OCUK take the money for straight away. When new retail stock comes in what happens to it? Will the customer that OCUK have taken money from and will have had their money for some time get the product they pre-ordered? Or will it just go for binning. Seems a genuine concern from someone that OCUK have already taken money from.

There were clear accusations of greed earlier in the thread because people got binned chips after a pre-order was sent in. Mark Vale thought he should get the 8700k he pre-ordered first before anyone else who orders a binned and delidded chip, and that if he didn't get it then he thinks OCUK are greedy and unethical.

He didn't buy a binned chip, but he wants everyone who paid over and above the price he paid to wait in line until he gets his normal retail one before they can have their binned chips.

If someone has pre ordered a £359.00 retail cpu at 2pm on the 5th and Joe Bloggs orders a binned cpu at 2.01pm for more cash then I still expect to have mine before him regardless of what price he paid (first come first served basis)...this attitude and outlook on their tactics is really what im complaining about.

I purchased a motherboard, cpu, power supply and some ram, it was like £800 worth of parts... why did you think i didn't buy the cpu? I wouldn't be annoyed if i got everything other than something I didn't buy.

Then even more the fool you, buying a whole system not knowing when you'd get it and having to pay interest on that purchase before you'd even received it.

I see. So you buy all your parts one at a time do you?

There are other major retailers which wouldn't even entertain the idea of taking stock from one SKU and order list to fulfil another. It is poor customer service.

That's absolutely my concern also. If the next shipment is another mere handful of chips then are those who pre-ordered the retail box going to be disapointed again?

No, but you've missed the point. He was complaining about having to pay interest on his credit card whilst he waited for his order, when he was ordering not knowing when the order would arrive like that was somehow OCUK's fault.
