8700K OcUK Stock and Binned Processors

That's absolutely my concern also. If the next shipment is another mere handful of chips then are those who pre-ordered the retail box going to be disapointed again?

That's the biggest issue from this all I think. If more retail stock is going to be binned before fulfilling retail pre-orders it makes good customer service sense for OCUK to offer to refund the pre-orders and not take any more until they can guarantee this is not happening. It seems like really bad practice to take the money and then not fulfill those orders first.

What you say makes perfect sense. Don't forget though, there are plenty of e-tailers that don't do de-liding and binning, so you have the option of going elsewhere.

just to be on the safe side i've ordered the cpu from another retailer, now it's a race between OCUK and them :D

To be fair to our hosts, i don't think they actually take any money until an order is dispatched. At least that's my experience over the last 14 years or so, unless someone tells me otherwise ?

It's not exactly like that at all. Gibbo warned all pre orders it would be late October till they get the CPUs. So when they ordered they knew no stock till then.

But when the stock comes in will it be used to fulfill the pre-orders of the customers you have already taken the money from?

I ordered a retail 87000k on launch day, if OCUK were to get more stock tomorrow, would it be used to fill retail orders or would it be binned?

Pre-orders we shall endeavour to fulfill by the end of October, as per the website estimated time of delivery when you placed your order. We shall be changing this date to end of November tomorrow for new orders. All pre-orders shall be strictly done on first come first served basis, so those who were quick to pre-order will get one first.

This week were expecting:
- 10-20pc 8700k retail
- 42pc 8700k oem tray
- 10-20pc 8600k retail
- 21pc 8600k oem tray

The retail stock will be booked against retail SKU at MSRP and pre-orders shipped out, we have pre-sold over 100, so there shall be none available for stock.
OEM product will be exclusive to SI and 8 Pack processors which will show in stock once binned and booked in by 8 Pack.

As such if you got your order in before 2pm (live at 13:54) you should have an 8700k this week, if it was after 2pm then expect next week which is still ahead of the schedule the website was displaying for pre-orders when you placed your order. :)

That's dire.

Thank you for the information Gibbo, my order time is 13:55:41 (jumped as soon as it went live), so hope to see mine arrive soon! =]

I shall take a look tomorrow at how many orders we got before 2pm, I am sure its less than 20-30pc so you should definitely be getting one this week, latest next week which is still a week ahead of the schedule date we were displaying at time of pre-order. :)

Thanks for the info Gibbo, with luck I should get mine the week after next

Intel have obviously released this earlier than they normally would, due to Ryzen. That is fine and makes commercial sense as even if people can't get hold of the CPU now, they will wait instead of buying a Ryzen set up.

For the people complaining about Intel low stock, the alternative would be release in 2-3 months time and have a relatively normal stock level release. But that would be worse off for everyone who manages to get a CPU in the next 2-3 months. So if anything Intel has done people a favour by releasing the CPU early. Just count yourselves lucky if you get one.

As for OCUK profiteering on binned stock. They aren't really because, given a normal well stocked launch you expect them to have just as many binned CPUs (if not more) than they sold anyway.

Yes nothing short of a disaster from Intel especially considering I have ordered nearly 3000 units of 8700k, I am informed the shortage will remain in full effect until December and maybe into 2018.

Although i fully agree it's a disaster, can you confirm that OCUK take the money for a pre-order straight away Gibbo ? If OCUK do, could you explain why ?

Any news on when the Z370 Apex boards will be in stock? Might pull the trigger on a binned 8700k before tomorrow if the APEX are going to be released before the end of the month.

I was hoping for Formula to be released, but doesn't look good. Going for something else. Will order this week, but still can't decide? That £40 steam code sounding good :)
