8800GTS 320MB Results so far....

I play all my games at 1280x1024 with 4xAA and full AT. Surprisngly my 6800GS seems to cope in most cases apart from Oblivion and GTR2 with a full grid. No matter I have found the card I am going for.

The Gainward Bliss 8800GTS Golden Sample 320Mb version. OCuk sell the 640 version but they don't have the 320 one yet so I've had to look elsewhere.

550Mhz GPU
1760Mhz Memory
£220

Should be sweet. :)

The extra money is not worth it.IMO

All GTS will do 650/1800

My vote goes for the BFG again for support and warranty and resale value.

BFG cards keep their resale value.I will be getting the BFG to use for a couple of months until things settle in the DX 10 arena and to see what ATI bring to the table and the NV refresh.

After all £199 is nothing for this kind of performance and IQ and I'll warrant they will keep their value very well indeed in the coming months.

Hats off to NV :)

Why not get the BFG version from OCUK? I think the clock speeds are the same, but you get a life time waranty with BFG?

*EDIT* just realized the memory clock is different :)

The warranty is 10 years.

Not bothered about the memory speeds I'm not spending 20 quid for something I can do in 30 secs with a slider in the driver!

In other countrys it is a life time, in Europe, a life time waranty is 10 years I believe.

I agree on the over clocking though! but some people dislike overclocking for some odd reason :/ I personally hate stuff running at stock. It feels wrong, it is literally free performance from clocking lol

I am currently thinking the EVGA 320 Super clocked is worth the extra £26 as the step up option allows an upgrade to the next GTX or a 640GTS. What you guys think?
EVGA 'step up' is an overated gimmick. You're paying +£26 for the option to step up to their next tier card, costing around £40 more than it would for the equivalent none EVGA model, meaning (in theory) that you're £66 out of pocket before you've even 'stepped up'. Its less hassle (and can also work out cheaper) to buy a standard 320mb gts with a plan of selling it when you feel the need to upgrade again, imho. :)

This Lifetime warranty, isn't that just for the original owner of the card? if so that's great for someone who intends to keep it forever but I'm not sure if this is something you can tout as a 'resale' feature.

There is a manufacturer (can't remember which one?) that offers a double lifetime warranty (or its called something like that?) but basically it covers whoever bought the card new and it also covers the second owner (as long as he/she registers on their website).

Please don't take this post the wrong way, I'm glad some people have been able to upgrade but I'm not sure this 'lifetime' warranty is such a great thing?

I still got a Radeon 9800Pro running after 3 years and 3 months so I'm sure one or three people will infact take advantage of the extended warranty anyhow! :D

Good point Bizarre, thanks.

Well my warranty is extended to 3 years so thats more than enough IMO! Plus i didnt pay £199 for mines :) im happy!

There has been a lot of postive response so far to this card from buyers and potential ones too, I think the oblivion screenies I posted do a good job of convincing :D

I didnt even have super sampling on as that at 16xQ AA makes the game take a hit performance wise, multi-sampling however and it runs great with it on :D

And yes the poster who questions...it is silent ;)

Also I just recorded my temps while playing Battle for Middle Earth 2 RoTWK Exp and the load temp only went to 62degrees  impressive temp indeed!

Warranty sells cards period,

If a manufacturer has a nice 10 yr warranty or lifetime warranty to the buyer this just reninforces the fact that they are buying a quality item.

If they offer a lifetime warranty then they must have faith in the quality of their products.

Just like EVGA would RMA any 680i mobo if the quad FSB limitation could not be fixed with a bios update.

You don't see this with INNO 3D cards.

Its easier to move cards on if they have a nice warranty wether this is transferable or not.

True I guess, in total I think Iv ever Returned 3 Graphics cards and never had to deal with an RMA for any of them!

Inno 3D's for 2 ironically easy ;) 4200Ti after 11months, full refund! 6800GT after 3months! FUll refund! It was after the 6800GT debacle I decided not to buy cards off them again!

My ATi x1800xt 512 was returned and that was Sapphire recently, after 15months and I got a full refund!

So I guess Iv gotten lucky with mines as I have never had to experience a manufacturers RMA service so far!

Added the madshrimps review where they concentrate on 1600x1200 resolution.

In Oblivion they show that the ram can make a difference if AA settings are applied but at 2x and 4x the performance gap isnt too big, 8x above however it is!

Basically this continues to prove the theory of this being the choice of card if you are gaming at anything <<<<<1600x1200! :D

I like to game at 1920x1200 :(

I may consider sending mine back unopened for the weekly special 640mv @ 265

Or maybe it wont be that bad if I stick to 2-4x AA

I should be happy because its like 2x as fast as my X1800XT anyway :o

I will probably just get the 640 then seeing as I'd need to pay around 450 to get a GTX + PSU and only 265 for a GTS 640

Big difference for 30% performance (GTS vs GTX) ;)

Right now I game on a 256MB X1800XT

I bet crysis uses a lot of gpu ram!

Hi there,

I've got a PSU which although is only rated at 350W, has +12V-1 14A Max and +12V-2 15A Max. The model no is :- PS-6351-3F. Its a LITEOn ??

Would this run an 8800GTS 320Mb ? Really want his card but am trying to keep the cost as low as possible.

Thanks for any help

I think you need 26A and at least 400W :(

OK. Was hoping that the combined total on the 12V of 29A would be enough, but I suppose I'l have to bite the bullet and get a new PSU.

This card really looks perfect for me, will be using it hooked up to my LCD TV. Those pics of oblivion are amazing.

Hope my trusty P4 holds out !

Cheers

Which card do you reckon would be best for 1680 x 1050 with a bit of AA?

I'm tempted to get the 640MB version cos I can get one for £205 (moving to Canada next week) but a 576mhz 320MB one would only be about £160.

I'm tempted to save the £45 (or get an extra 1GB RAM with it for 3GB) but I know I'll kick myself if games like Bioshock and Crysis need the extra vRAM lol.

Mine has arrived with the rest of my stuff, and first things, it's bloody massive, upgrading from a x800GTO2 and the difference is huge. lol

Can't wait to get it setup and see what it can do.
