8Pack super fast smash the rest i5 Skylake Overclocked, Discounted killer GAMING bundle.

Ok, I bought this rig in October I overclocked it exactly as it showed in the pictures apart from the default voltages in the black boxes were not the same as the pictures. It did work for afew weeks but then it wouldn't let me play games like overwatch and doom. I would be half way into a match and it would just crash. Long story short I phoned OC and I was informed that my mobo had broken so it needed to be replaced. That was during Xmas so I didn't actually get a replacement until January 6th. Anyway, from that point on I didn't want to overclock it again in case the same happened again. This weekend I had a performance issue during a LAN event, when I got home I thought I would give overclocking ago again. Exactly to the pictures and it's broken again. It will not go past the boot screen. I've even tried to set it back to default but it's the same. Any help would be appreciated before I get back on to OC tomorrow. Thank you in advance

I'm running this set up with a 1080

UPDATE:

Ive got it booting now. I've tested it in game, I can run CSGO everything set highest. No issues at all can play for hours. Runs perfectly. However in overwatch, it can play for so long then it will just crash.

quick question.

why was Corsair Vengeance memory being sold with this package when in the first post you use Kingston Hyperx Fury?

you even state

"The Kingston mems as quite frankly Kingston are the don of DDR4 and allow for real OC headroom and stability"

i'm having problems with this package and it's not even 6 months old, i'm waiting for new memory to arrive tomorrow but it's Corsair like i was originally given when i first purchased this package.

knew in the back of my mind this wouldn't make any difference!

running memtest everything was fine apart from the block move using multi threading in parallel mode, it's a common error from what found after some research, i tried to tell this to the guy on the phone! but no send back the memory.

well i'm still having problems, as soon as the system tries to boot the OS it freezes, if i try a fresh install from USB it freezes, there's nothing wrong with the SATA drive it works fine and boots to the desktop on my old system.

mobo had been back for testing came back ok!

the new setup has been sitting redundant for about 3 weeks now and it's beginning to peev me off a bit.

time to get on the phone yet again.

PSU and CPU are being returned for testing.

Are you trying to install windows 7 or 10?

Change the boot option from uefi to legacy

I bought the same bundle as you a year and a half ago and all was fine till a couple of months ago when the CPU wasn't stable at 4.4Ghz anymore.

tried installing both win 7 and 10 with the same result, tried changing the UEFI and other OS boot options too but no difference.

Bios has been reset and it's running the CPU at 2.7Ghz.

so i need to flash the mobo with a standard (non blk oc) bios, install windows and reflash the 050 bios.

doesn't really explain why the SATA drive isn't working, or maybe it's not working right because i've used the OS install on another system which has messed things up?

might as well i'll give it a go i suppose nowt to lose and parts haven't been sent yet.

does it matter which standard non blk oc bios i flash with to install windows?

thanks

though remember i can't load the OS so can't use the flash programming tool, unless i can do it via the 050 bios? hmmm

wow it's bloody working, now on the new setup in windows 10 ffs

fresh install done, everything seems fine, thank you very much for your input 8 pack :D

Guys I'm having all the same issues. I got a message one day on the PC. Bad overclock and that was after having it all working a few months. So I wiped Windows off my HDD. Now when I go to install Windows it loads up Windows on the menu and loads but after 10 min the screen turns off and won't come back on! I've tried everything but what the poster above posted. The bios works no problem and I've tested everything but now I see I need to reflash the bios with standard non blk oc. Does anyone have a link to the standard bios flash? Because I'm lost atm

all works fine guys i got windows installed and loaded up all my programs. the only problem now is when i reflashed the Bios and applied the OC again the screen wont come on.

Im not sure whats going on with the OC. Even when i applied the bios flash the PC turned off and the boot lED light came on the mobo.

So i put the base bios back on and it works perfect. Im not sure why the overclock is not working. It could be Windows 10 as its a fresh install. One thing I have noticed that if i put the monitor into the Graphics card it wont come at all, even on base bios. I have the monitor plugged into the mobo at all times. I got a new graphics card 1070 from overclockers two days ago ill try this tomorrow to see if there is any changes.

but im lost at this point.

If you trying to use the Graphics on the Motherboard (The IGPU that's within the CPU), the 0050 OC Bios Disables this hence why your not getting anything on your monitor. The package needs a GPU/Graphics Card to be installed when you put the OC Bios on (For example I got my Son a ASUS 1060 6GB Turbo for this package).

Its all stated in the readme.txt within the "Z170-E-ASUS-0050.zip" download;

readme.txt said:
This is not an official ASUS BIOS, only enables base clock overclocking on non-K CPUs.
Don’t use this for K-series CPUs.
It might damage your hardware, no guarantees provided.

Issues found so far

* No IGPU
* No dynamic change of CPU frequency
* No C-states
* No Turbo Mode
* CPU temperature reading is incorrect
* AVX instructions have very low performance
* Windows XP ACPI not supported

After flashing set the following settings to make it boot into OS with correct CPU speed

Advanced\CPU Configuration
- Boot Performance Mode -> Turbo Performance

Advanced\CPU Configuration\CPU Power Management Configuration
- Intel(R) SpeedStep(tm) -> Disabled
- CPU C states -> Disabled1

Thank you for this.

I so that solved s that issue. now i just need to get the OC to work on the bios.

With the 0050 bios is installed, just install the following 8Pack 4.4ghz .cmo file.

https://img.overclockers.co.uk/media/unknown/i54400.cmo

If you wish to try pushing it to 4.5ghz then follow 8Packs guide on page 1 of this thread, I didn't bother with my sons as he was happy with the 4.4ghz OC

I will try the pea sized method as per your advice, thanks again.
