Abu Qatada

Kate Allen said:
the British courts now need to have a "cold, hard look" at Jordan's record on torture.

"This is a disappointing decision and a missed opportunity. The Grand Chamber would have been the right body to examine this appeal because it raises fundamental issues about whether 'deportation deals' with countries which routinely use torture should ever be relied on.

"Jordan has a known record of torturing detainees and conducting unfair trials. The simple truth is that Abu Qatada will be at personal risk of torture and of receiving an unfair trial in Jordan's State Security Court.

"No matter what a person has been accused of, the UK must abide by the absolute global prohibition on torture and not try to wriggle out of it."

What planet is this woman on?

One can live in hope, those that live by the sword and all that.

These people must just laugh at us, hiding behind our justice when all they spew is hate and death.

A fiver says there will be another balls up e.g. she puts him on the wrong plane or sends him to the wrong country.

And that's the reason why victims family are not involved with sentencing, because you should make decisions based on emotions.

Yes obviously, I'm just saying though. It baffles me how anyone can 'stand up' for this vile piece of ****.

Yep, he'll end up living at Jordan's house having to look after Harvey. Now that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

I totally understand what you're saying, and to a point I agree. But it's by ensuring the rights of scum like this aren't violated, that the rights of the innocent and the wrongly convicted are safe guarded.

What actually are we going to get out of deporting him though?
We could just keep him locked up.

Prisoners are expensive, I think the more expensive cost in the tens of thousands a year. In prison or not he costs a lot of money to watch and 'protect'.

I'd rather my taxes weren't going towards keeping him locked up.

Also, i'd imagine he will have far less contact with anyone over there to spread his hatred.
