That looks more like dirt trapped behind the screen to me.
It could be. Not a big deal but it is a bit sad that such an expensive monitor has issues.

Regarding the glow, give it a couple of days. The ones I had anyway, the glow reduced to the point of barely being able to see it on black screens. Hopefully be the same with yours.
Mine just had nasty backlight bleed problems and dead pixels
Look at the bottom right corner... identical to my Acer return.. and this is on an exhibition model of the forthcoming Asus PG279Q...
Surely they must be using the same panel....

They probably have the brightness set extremely high, most likely even set to 100%
For my current and previous 2x29um65's and dell u2311h, it makes a massive difference. But yes "severe" bleed will not be "completely" removed by lowering the brightness
