ADSL Max Question?

Had Max since Friday and it's turning out to be very crap, initially synced at 8meg, downloads of around 700K/sec. But I'm getting masses of CRC error's, of an evening the line drops like crazy, every 20 minutes or so.

Now I'm synced at 7.5mbps and I've been capped back to 2mbit!

I've had Max since Friday on my primary line, synced at 8128/832 and not had any drops - it's been fine.

For reference, before the regrade on 2mbit (attenuation is 29dB), SNR was 31dB, now it's hovering around 6-8dB. Not bad any dropouts or CRC error problems though.

I am seeing strange fluctuating speeds at some peak times, though, and I'm on Max Premium - I hate to think what people on Max standard might be getting :(

To be expected in the early stages though Pike? Just out of interest, when you first regraded did it list it as 8Mbps? I was only allowed to choose 6Mbps, probably due to line length etc.

On friday when I should have 6Mbps, will I be limited to 720KB/s like 2Mbps is limited to 240KB/s or is there a chance I could be downloading at 8Mbps speeds (960KB/s? )at certain times?

I didn't choose a speed, just ordered up to 8meg with my ISP.

I accept theres some retraining, but it's retraining at the same speed, thats just stupid.

SNR is perfectly fine for the sync though, so thats probably why DLM isnt doing it's job.

Stats before upgrade were 31 attenuation and 25 snr.

Been synced at 7424000 for 9 hours now and have accumulated 5908 CRC errors, my BRAS profile has been reduced to 2mbit overnight which is just odd.

Yep. ISPs aren't going to say you can get the full 8mb, as its unlikely that you will, so they'll give the lowest speed that you're likely to get.

Won't do bub.

You should loose the 2mb cap three days or less after regrading.

OK, so will I be limited to 720KB/s (6Mbps) then?

Try it now, you may find you've been upgraded already.

are we saying MAXDSL @ 6Mbps doesn't have a 720KB/s cap?
yes. I presume that would have to be an office package though? as standard max upload is 448kbps, and office is 832kbps.

I had 8mbit, was downloading at 700KB/s now it's back to 240KB/s.
Its rate adaptive, it should be up again tommorow, and should be at your max speed by next monday.

I'm sorry but you dont know what your talking about, my sync has not dropped below 6.5mbit, where the hell is it getting 2mbit from?

So what was on the line before you had max?
I mean under max I havn't synced at 2mbit, the line hasn't even exhibited a gradual drop, it went from 6.5mbps to 2mbit overnight.

The BRAS profile has reset without good reason, unless my lines so unbelievably crap it's given up.
