ADSL Max Question?

Not really. The LLU providers (and ADSL ISPs outside the UK) have been doing ADSL with rate adaption for years...
Oh right, I didn't know that.

It's a wonder why Max DSL hasn't been a bit less trouble free then.
Perhaps BT are getting inundated with orders from people to upgrade and they can't cope

I think that's quite possibly the problem... I'm surprised the trial didn't pick these issues up though.

DLM appears to be not learning on some lines, causing huge problems.

It hasnt stabilised the speed for me yet :(

Managed a single 81 hour connection, but still have caps. My connection jumps from 0.5kb/s download up to 300kb/s download, pings in games are 999 to 20 and back the next second.

Its a utter joke, I have been on the service since the 3rd april!

right just checked my order on the nildram site, says install date was 8th april and the welcome letters have been sent out on the same day.

problem is im still connecting at 2meg and nothing has changed.

has anyone else had this issue on nildram at all??

I think you'll find you're reading the wrong date as the welcome letters are sent a few days before activation.

You're possibly reading "install date proposed" which has the same date as "welcome letters sent", look further upwards for "current estimated installed date".

For anyone thinking of getting it i would totally ignore bt's guesso metre, according too that my line should be capable of between 5-8 meg. It did briefly sync at 5 meg but has fallen ever since now too 2944 down which i am roughly hitting 300kbs.

I was regraded early hours on 4th april so its well past the 3 day period and i am still getting some drop outs, i moved from zen's unlmited 2 meg and tbh i went off bt's prediction and expected maybe 4 meg as a minimum if i had known i would end up with this speed i wouldn't have botherd.

I saw some are getting there drop outs due too the upload speed as that never changes, there download speed aint producing errors but there upload is so the line drops out and the download speed drops again but upload remains the same, bit of a balls up imo bt's end too not cover the 2. My upload has always been sync at 448 so am begining to wonder if this is causing my problem too.

well my line was regraded today.. hers the stats from my router

Downstream Rate : 8128 Kbps
Upstream Rate : 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin : 10 db
Upstream Margin : 23 db
Downstream Line Attenuation : 7
Upstream Line Attenuation : 5
Downstream Transmit Power : 0
Upstream Transmit Power : 0

download speeds are still stuck at 2mbps tho.. any guess as to why? i would ring tech support but dontfancy the 30 min wait listening to wotever silly song they have playing..

Hi

Guess im one the lucky ones so far ... upgraded from today synched @ 8m/b since first boot ... initial speed test results 2m/b as before @ 9am this morning ... just repeated @ 2pm & synch the same but speed test now reads 4994 Down & 342 Up

happy surfing or leeching or speed testing , whatever floats ya boat :D

A fix!

Anyone having issues with not getting a stable connection on a DG834 with MaxADSL.

Wipe the settings, re-enter them and leave it off for 35 minutes, you will re-connect and get a stable connection suddenly

:D Sorted; I think.

Congrats im using DG834 not noticed a specific problem ... working as it should i believe .. speeds slowly ramping up & guess i can expect a few disconnects if/when it becomes unstable .. im just gonna go with the flow for 3 days as BT have advised before i start to concern myself ... like gaming "dont keep benchmarking just do it & play" or in this case surf download & enjoy

Im due to be regraded tomorrow and currently use a speedtouch 330 modem.
Reading this tells me that my usb modem will be ok to handle the new speeds.
BUT on the BT website it says that ethernet is better. I have a voyager 220v router coming tomorrow too.
Which is best to use please, Thanks.

I have been regraded today despite Nildram's date of the 12th April. Still I am not going to complain :)

Receive 4832
send 448

Downstream Noise Margin = +5.9 dB
Downstream Attenuation = 24.5 dB

I am sure my connection will get slower in the evening as the Downstream Noise margin seems to get worse in the evening. Time to get a router I think because I am using an extension lead to my PCI ADSL modem

Just waiting for router to be delivered.
This is what im getting now from my speedtouch 330

Hope it stays at that.

Just browsing this thread and saw your post. I have DG834G v2. Twice last night my connection dropped. I did however upgrade the firmware and since then I have not had any dropouts, I am unsure if it is related or not. Most of the DSL testers state my line can handle 4Mbps. I did notice after the dropouts that when the router did reconnect it would sync at a lower speed. It started off at 6112 then synced somewhere near the low end of 5000. Is that meant to happen? I was wondering what would happen if I unplugged the router and powered it backup would it sync at a higher speed? I may give it a go tonight.

Hi

DG834 v2 (hard wired) ... only seen one connection drop in last 36 hours since regrade & it resynched @ slighty lower speed .. as far as im aware thats exactly what its supposed to do repeating the process over 10 days finding the lines best stable level ... so dont worry unless its dropping connection constantly
