Aero/Gains Thread

Zipp wheel added now I have a cassette. Just need an 808 for the front now!

Unfortunately extra width means a play around with the brake. Who thought these are a good idea...please kill me.

Gainz!

Riding the TT on the Kickr gives them!

I first rode the P3 about 4-6 weeks ago. We did the same course today and I smashed it compared. The longer course is 26km, 5k out & back up a 1-2% false flat plus the regular 7.5km out & back along a different road.

Paced very nicely, second half along the short course I took 30 seconds off my PB (set on a calm day on a road bike). I was slowest of the "A" grade riders over the first 5km, easing into it and being careful to avoid going out too hard.

The main difference was I am more used to the position, I could stay on the aero bars the whole ride, just using the brakes for the U turns and junctions where needed. No back problems or pain, just ride quite a high cadence compared to on the road bike, keep the leg speed up seems to work well.

Came in third fastest, with an average of 40.7kmh on a pretty windy day. Ended up fighting the front wheel a bit as it was moving around.

Now how much is an aero helmet worth over 26km.... a second a km? That would have given me second fastest if so!

Almost final piece in the puzzle for next year.

That gum sidewall :cool::cool:

What's the deal down there running 808 on the front? No drama's?
900 is a no-no isn't it?
CTT is so different. I am trying to get my head around it all as all our TT's up here are BC and there is big differences. I hope at some point next year to do some TT's certainly in Manc/Lancashire area but I've no idea of courses/rules or what the heck goes on.... My club is CTT affiliated thankfully.

What's left? Zipp 900 tub?

See up - already got a Super 9

in what respect xdcx, as in legal to ride it? Only about 3 wheels you can't ride the 1080 Zipp, Planet X 5 spoke and one other. If you mean from a handling perspective I've no idea, rode a Tri spoke but never had issues with wind/handling.

CTT handbook should be available for any club member from your secretary if you're affiliated. Might be worth getting them to buy one if they haven't and having a read of rules.

Sorry it is the 1080 I was thinking off and mistakenly thought it was the 900 which was sketch.

I train with our secretary so can get the handbook no bother. I was having a quick look through it on way to the TTT champs in August but man there is heaps in it! Will need to proper sit and waste some life reading it. Although there will be a new one with the 3cm rule amendment soon, of course :p

You buy that 808 with the FMB on? Those meant be super quick, rare as hens teeth though so guessing you bought second hand with that tub glue'd?

Why did you go with 808 over a Hed3 or a FFWD tri? Just curious!

Most TTs in scotland are done under ScottishCycling so the rules are different from CTT races.
I think it'll soon all move over to CTT though. CTT have a region setup for scotland now and there's a few (15ish) TTs planned in scotland next year. None near me+xdcx though.

I think I have a copy of the handbook if you want xdcx? No events up this way next year though so it probably isnt of that much interest?
