Afghanistan - 20 years on

I’ve had another look at the list of US equipment left behind and it’s the 16,000 night vision devices and the 60,000 radios that are going to be a problem for Afghanistan’s neighbours or NATO if they get sold on.

With a bit of fairly basic technical assistance, the Taliban (or whomever buys them) could have both a same tier NV capability as NATO and reliable infra/inter team comms. While I’d be surprised if any US crypto gear was left behind, the standard US short range radios are frequency agile and wouldn’t be easy to intercept unless you had ELINT assets circling overhead.
Taliban have been using commercial thermal scopes for years it seems bought off ebay

You can't force people out and the US has no idea how many US citizens are actually there. They don't have to report to the US embassy when they arrive. Just as our government has no idea exactly how many British citizens are still there. They've had months to get out, if they left it to the last second then they are idiots.

Why don't you quote my whole post?

"Yes they do want out but was left behind" that's put it in context.

Well you seem to have a problem with this guy arriving. How about the new Taliban leader that Trump got Pakistan to free from jail as part of his surrender to the Taliban. Or the 5000 prisoners. You are equally outraged by that right? Or are you just a hypocrite?

I have no problems.

It's you keep going on about things that happened in the past.
Keep putting the blame on other people for what happened. In other words your an apologist for biden.

All you had to do was read the link to find your answer. But you're to lazy.

Looks like I was wrong about them hanging someone from a helicopter, they in fact tied someone to a helicopter and you can see them waving in a close-up shot, as you do when you acquire a small force of black hawk helicopters. . :D

What was the alternative? Leave them there to face their fate? Then he gets criticised for that and pictures/video of people being killed are thrown at him. This is a no win scenario, a portion of the country hits him if he leaves them, another portion is probably praying for an attack so they can hit him.
Great thanks for quoting me again.Still doesn't address my original point that you incorrectly assumed I was speaking from my perspective when it was crystal clear I was noting the power dynamics between rep/dems and what they would do.

Very disingenuous.

I guess that the US and the rest are now out its time to take a step back and leave Afghanistan to sort itself out. All that equipment will likely be sold off to the highest bidders or rot in place as they will not maintain anything too complicated. If the Taliban go on a killing spree, its no longer the West's problem even if its Westerners that get it, they really shouldn't have been there in the first place after 20 years of war. But don't be surprised when China takes an interest there, they are right next door.

Pentagon confirms that US military equipment left behind at Kabul is unusable.

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby responded Tuesday to a viral video of Taliban fighters inspecting U.S. military equipment inside an evacuated hangar at Kabul's airport, telling CNN that the gear has been "demilitarized" and rendered "unusable."

Why it matters: The Biden administration has faced intense criticism over images of the Taliban seizing billions of dollars worth of U.S. military equipment supplied to the Afghan security forces, which collapsed as the U.S. withdrew from the country.

What he's saying: "[The Taliban] can inspect all they want. They can look at them, they can walk around, but they can't fly them. They can't operate them," Kirby told CNN.

"We made sure to demilitarize, to make unusable, all the gear that is at the airport," Kirby said. He added that the only items left operable were "a couple of fire trucks and some fork lifts" so that the airport can get back up and running.

Well now they got the vets after them. No chance Biden is getting in again.

US seeing images of the Taliban driving around in US vehicles and carrying US guns, likely using them to oppress and murder civilians. He will never live it down.
