Age restrictions on the sale of alcohol now TOO tight?

Rarely if ever carry ID around with me, don't often get asked for it, but when I do yeah its annoying, but I just take it as a compliment (have always looked much older than I actually am), then go to another shop if they refuse to sell, their loss not mine.

Had one young girl in the local shop ask me for ID, I replied by asking her for ID as she didnt look old enough to be selling it to me in the first place, in fact as it turned out I was almost old enough to be her dad lol.

Whats most annoying is when you buy alcohol as a group, person paying presents ID but they ask ID from everyone with you
.

That's kinda weird. Can they pick and choose who they do this to? what if a 24 yr old who could pass for about 18 (like me) was to buy alcohol with a 16 year old. Isn't it a bit judgemental to assume that the person underage are going to drink it. Chances are a group of 18 and 17 year olds are going to share it around, but can they actually refuse to sell it to the paying person with ID based on asumption?

Um, yeah. You win the thread. Well done. :)

With all due respect mate, the law is the law, and some people like to cover their back more than others do, and that person did by asking you for ID. I totally understand your point of view, and I hope you see ours as well, and of course, there's going to be an opinion on either side, but only one thing is certain; what the law says goes. :)

Ahh the days of getting paint stripper at the shops. Girlfreind with the cleavage on show for males and wink and a smile for the girls from me.

Only failed us once, she must have been a lezzer. :D

dunno if anyones mentioned this but in the US they ID practically anyone who doesnt look seriously middle aged or really old. Dont really have a problem with being asked for id but almost all the time the shop assistant always makes a joke about having to id a 22 yr old.:o
