Air fryers

I bought a Ninja Foodi Max at the start of lockdown, and there's not much I can't cook in it that I can't in a conventional oven (apart from bread).
It does take up quite a bit of space though, which isn't a problem for me, but it may be for you.
I cook a pork/beef roast, whole chicken, chops etc every week and can't fault it.
Have a look on Youtube at some of the results people get from an air frier, it may convince you.

Space isn't a problem as I'm cooking for one and have sufficient counter space.

It's mainly the mainly the initial cost that's putting me off, for something that may be a fad...

But something less than £100 (or ideally less than £75) I would be interested in. Any recommendations at those prices?

Any recommendations for an Air Fryer less than £100 (ideally near £75 or less).

I'll be cooking for one - oven chips, chicken etc.

I know these are just small fan ovens, but an Air Fryer should be cheaper than turning on my large fan oven, and I like kitchen gadgets as long as they are reasonably priced and useful.

Any suggestions in my price range?

These come on offer from time to time. I have one and the rotisserie for chicken is great. Paid about £67 when it was on offer.

Using the probe takes a lot of the guess work out and for us makes a perfect finish time after time.

What's everyones thoughts on these two?

devils advocate - what is the difference between that and a small built in convection oven ? can't see any pictures of how the air-flow for example is different, or whether it provides features to help clean-up when a roasting meat is uncovered.

One thing I would look at is time to temp and consumption when considering an air fryer or one with other functions.

Our fan assist oven takes around 10 minutes to reach temp and the non fan assisted a few minutes more, whereas the Ninja will reach the same temps in a few minutes at most.

In the case of those paticular ones probably nothing. I'm thinking about getting the Ninja DT200 as it's 29L, then if we get on with it, buy the 350 for meats. That should pretty much cover everything I think.

It's only a matter of time before our cooker goes, it's 15 years old now and takes much longer to cook than before. The seals being all broken doesn't help.

Silly question, I've read quite a lot of people saying the mains cable isn't very long and a few have returned because of it. Assume it's safe to run them through an extension lead?

Cannot see any reason why an extension lead cannot be fitted. If coiled just ensure it is fully unwound.

We started with a cheap £40ish one from Aldi, just one of the small tower style ones which was perfect to test the waters.

It got used that much we then upgraded to the small Ninja dual zone jobby and now the main oven goes on maybe twice a month and I wish I'd bought the bigger Ninja :o

I attempted Broccoli in the Ninja last night. I checked recipes online, did as they said but oh my god, the house stunk of broccoli, the stalls were rock hard and the florets were crispy and turned to dust in my mouth. I still ate them as was hungry but I must have done something wrong. Hahha

We stick to doing veg in the microwave. I'm hoping once I get mine we can throw the oven away.

Right, I've done it. I'm going all in!

Ordered a Ninja DT200 and an OL750. Hopefully can rip the oven out at some point and be done with it.

Cheapest prices I've found with stock was Ninja direct for the DT200 at £230 and Argos for the OL750 at £250.

Considering we needed a new oven anyway, hopefully I've done the right thing.

Lmao. We also failed in our AF400 dual fryer with brocolli. To date it has been the only thing we've not managed to cook right, and to be fair

1. The missus did cut them very thick!
2. It was on day2 of using our fryer!

We haven't gone back to brocolli yet so that remains. I just have memories of the house smelling very nasty!
