Air fryers

It's weird seeing so many people just now getting air fryers, after having one for over a decade - I literally don't think I could count how many times I have used it, and the endless amount of things it has warmed up/cooked.

weird people don't realise its the same as a fan assisted oven

We had one a few years back but got rid of it because we just ate a ton of chips, as they were epic. :cry:
 
My oven had packed up and as I'd read about the Duo Pot + Air fryer addon I bought one in a Black Friday sale and basically it's done everything I wanted so didn't bother replacing the oven. Great for 1 or 2 person meals and I reckon so people are starting to consider similar devices due to the potential lower energy consumption. Plus my Duo Pot does great New York style cheese cakes in like 25 mins!

theres this thing called a "combination microwave" that also has a fan assisted oven *Cough* "air fryer" built in

do people not own microwaves?

Takes my fan assisted oven 10 minutes to reach temp and slightly longer for the non assisted oven.
As there are only two of us and the Ninja takes 2 minutes to reach the same temp and cooks in a much quicker time, which in your opinion is the better option?

I'm confused why you are spouting this in a thread titled AIR-FRYERS.
 
Hot UK Deals struck again yesterday and I dipped in on a 6.7L Gourmia from Costco, anyone in else got this one? I'm thinking the ~£55 will be repaid relatively quickly in terms of time and maybe money if we see silly £/kwh in the next few months. The amount of times we spin the oven up for a couple of fish fingers for the kid is mental.

This is my experience, a Microwave or main fan oven takes a lot longer, the Ninja is quick, set oven at 200 and pinged to add food in 2 minutes!

Still learning to adjust the cooking times as it cooks quicker. Burnt a few things.

Going to pick up the dual basket Ninja soon!

I didn't realise you can get a combi microwave air fryer eg. https://www.sageappliances.com/uk/en/products/microwaves/bmo870.html

so you get the benefit of air-flow of an air-fryer (answering my earlier post) plus a microwave ... but, since many of our meals at the moment include steamed vegetables
(new potatoes, sweetcorn on cob, cauli, cabbage, reheated lentil/quinoa dishes - so far this week) I doubt these devices would improve on a steamer pan on the hob.

Anything new for me is checked often and remembered for next time + after a while you kind of get a built in rough time for doing certain items in the air fryer/Ninja Foodi Max.

It's just like any other way of cooking if you do a lot of it, you get a feel for it.

But basically, it is just a small, very efficient oven, in purely technical terms.

But it does cook a lot of stuff much better than an oven far more cheaply if you're only doing small portions.

I've got 6 x 12 year olds coming round for my daughters birthday. I suspect the £40 I spent on an air fryer will be paid back in one night of making nuggets, chips, pizza and general **** for them!

Breaking it down

1: Yeah I guess so, you know when the BBQ is done, the chips sound right or the fish colour is spot on.

2: Agree. It is a small efficient oven, but imo much better than a usual oven.

3: It can do and sometimes it can do the same stuff at the same time in a fraction of the time an oven that has to be set for different temps can do. I've tried adding timers to Amazon and dropping stuff in at the right moment for it to end up as the perfect timed dinner.

4: Nothing beats a bowl with foil on to keep stuff hot while the next stuff goes on :)


Like I've said a few times I've got the Ninja Foodi Max Health Grill, which serves us well and does much more than an oven, quicker, cheaper and at a better quality for a fraction of the price of firing up and oven or two.

Perhaps you could create a thread that covers this and maybe have it titled "Air Fryers for Sheep as it is obvious"

Between that I see you are failing to take on board the simple facts that show air fryers and multi fryers are perfect for many and are more efficient than ovens & microwaves.

no I'm cynical (never owned uwave/fryer/air-fryer) just an oven, but I am persuaded air-fryers do have a different air flow.

per wessimo , we don't do small portions in the oven (any more) usually do the complete meal there+pudding. (puddings are a GenZ thing I think)
I don't see a cooker which is being marketted as a fryer either, as consistant with a healthy diet, it's complicit in the obesity epidemic (rant over)
