Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

lol i felt the same but there is nothing to it really, i suppose im only half and half because i didnt finish it all in one day but i didnt want to rush it incase i left sharp edges, which would have cut cables. so the more i look at it the better i feel, just need a few hours to cut the holes for the psu cables. then i going to try and haggle the price of powder coating:eek:

Well i'll be doing a 100% overhaul in january, so i might take the plunge and snip bits off when i do that :) gonna get a modular PSU so half the work will be done for me, but ofc hiding SATA cables etc. is allways a bonus.

i find that 1m cables for sata is easy to work with when hiding. have been toying with idea of putting a fake panel(possibly carbon fibre) where the front panel leads are so they are completely out of sight, would make sata cable tidying easier aswel

Would be interesting to see, any performance issues in using 1m sata cables over the shorter generic cables.

from what i can recall there would be a slight,un-noticable performance decrease due to the distance the info has to travel, if this was my work pc i would opt for shorter cable but as it is my gaming/home/internet pc then i think i would choose the tidy-i-ness over a small performance drop :)

EDIT : looks like saturday will be the day the tray gets sent for coating :) takes a week or two, to get done so im debating whether to ghetto my pc for a week or just play on the xbox/Wii for a week:confused:

I noticed this too, mine has 2 very large holes, has the design changed since i bought mine years ago?

The Akasa Eclipse Case changed the removable motherboard tray layout from two vent holes to one about 6 months ago, all Akasa's are now shipping with one vent hole on the motherboard tray, unless you get sent cases from old stock. I must admit I do prefer the tray with the two vents as cabling is easier to manage.

i will say this, dremel takes a longgggg time :p try making loads of drill holes around the edge and then use the dremal saw blade to cut thru the tiny metal bits between the holes, then either use the dremel and sand the edges or use a file, or like me, a combination of both :)

What an odd thing to do.

I certainly see no reason for it. The top hole's handy for routing the 24 pin 12v cable and the floppy cable. And the bottom one is a godsend for SATA and IDE cables.

Agreed.. found my original easier to build with the extra vent, kept cables hidden better..:)

Take side cover off to look..;):D

Aye, posted at work ;)

Thats what the inside of mine looks like so I was slightly mistaken >.< nice with the 3 gaps, alas the holes don't seem to be THAT usefull where they are ¬_¬" maybe with some patience and longer cables they could be persuaded to be an asset but not atm :<

I suppose it depends where your connections are positioned on the motherboard. I'm lucky that the holes line up perfectly with all my ports.

Aye, mine all seem to be slightly out of the way, plus the cables on my Tagan 480 are neither very long nor modular, so its a pain putting anything anywhere ¬_¬" so far most of the unused cables are hiding on the far ide of the HDD rack

Ah!! 3 vents, should keep the motherboard nice and cool, any internal pics Pea0n..;) looks a  build...:D

Hey guys,

Sorry being off topic, if you have to chose between this and Antec 900, which one would you go with? In terms of cooling as well?
