Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

I think you're right, the hard drives are causing a lot of vibration making the droning noise on the case as it doesnt happen with the sides off.

So I'm thinking of moving my hard drives.....obviously I know I could get the Icy Dock MB-453SPF 3-Bay Internal SATA Drive Enclosure if I wan to spend near £50, but I'm just wondering as I don't have a floppy drive if I could put the 2 hard drives in the 2 floppy drive spaces or would it get a bit hot?

I'm only thinking of moving them there as the hard drive cage at the bottom seems quite flimsy as you can quite easily move it and make the vibrations worse when the PC is on.

I know people will suggest the bungee mod, but I dont have any elastic to do it

If someone could reply quickly with an opinion I would be gratful a I've got my PC in bits at the moment and a spare 1/2 hour

moving from the hdd bay to the floppy bay wont make that much difference in heat, bungee mod as people have said, gives a good improvement in vibration, i been thinking of using the icy dock internal housing and will most probably get it on thursday (got to love payday) however im very partial to tidy tidy wires so i might have to see if it will mess up my insides

Just figured it out, I had forgot to put the screws back into the front of the case to secure the HDD cage in place
Since doing that and putting one of the hard drives in the floppy bay, the vibrations have stopped lol

Some changes from my last pics, new silver sata cables, sata dvd drive, and paxmate, my life is complete :)

Thinking about getting an Eclipse soon but would like to know 2 things :)

1. Does it come with fans? if so how many come with it and if not whats the maximum amount of fans i should use in it?
2. Does the paxmate make a lot of difference to it?

comes supplied with 1x120mm intake, and 1x 120mm outtake as for the paxmate i dont have it in mine so im unsure about that

What do you guys think!?

Also im thinking of cutting a hole in the side panel & attaching a fan to blow cold air straight into the path of the cpu heatsink fan. Anyone else done/thought about doing this?

Cheers, Gareth

I'm guessing that theres one at the front and one for exhaust then but where could i get other fans in that would benefit?

Two good quality 120mm fans is all that this case needs to provide very good cooling... You could possibly mod it to add a second intake fan at the front or an exhaust fan at the top/side but doubt if it would make a huge difference to be honest.

If you want a case with a load of fans maybe look in to the coolermaster range.

Im thinking of buying an Icy Dock MB-453SPF (not for hot swapping but better cooling), as the only fan blowing air into the case is hitting the hdd's first.

Do you think ill see a drop in temps?

Cheers, Gareth

Yes definitly! i have one, and mine dropped by 2 degrees, better than a kick in the teeth, and gives you a lot more room to move too :D

Never did get around to buying an Icy Dock... How noisy is the fan on it eggcup?
Seriously irritating.

:p

It's defiantly audible but it's not much over the hum of a pc.

The whole machine (server) is whisper quiet apart from the two fans on the hdd cages so it's sounds worse than it actually is.
If you have cool drives and/or have aam enabled you can run them passive in the cages anyway. :)
