Alien: Isolation...

What difficulty are you playing on? :p

Playing on Hard

Spent 90% of my game time so far hiding in closets :p

I don't think it's a spoiler when I say I'm in the medical facility getting some medicine so a doctor can help me help someone. I mean, it's a space ship, of course there's going to be a medical center.

Anyway, so about 3 hours in and still dodging the alien

Spoke too soon!

Found hiding and killed in a heartbeat :p

Me: 0-1 Alien

There's plenty more to come. I even managed to score own goals :(

This was a great game, I put 90 odd hours into two playthroughs and some dlc and loved every minute of it.

I had it on release and got good performance with no crashes.

My game of the year for the year it released in.

Anyone who hasn't got around to playing it yet should get on with it.

just finished this on PS3 - one of the longest games i've ever played.

I don't mind long games as long as it's opening the story ie Last of Us, but this got very samey - go here, collect this, rinse and repeat. But the Medical centre and a couple of other bits were worth it.

Have got DLC Ripley and another that came with the Ripley edition, so still got that to play through.

I am saving this for another playthrough on the Rift. Experiencing 1 of my favourite games of all time in VR is both something I can't wait for, yet at same time know is going to be an absolutely terrifying experince lol.

The second Ripley DLC where she escapes from Nostromo is just reliving that part of the film for yourself - the effects, the lighting, the sounds... That mothership voice: "You now have.... fiiive minutes!"... GOosebumps :) Top, top game!

Have they lifted the actual sound effects from the film? The computer needs to be Helen Horton's voice or else! :p

I know that Sigourney Weaver did Ripleys voiceovers , but not sure about the other characters. Mothership is awesome though, authentic or not - hearing Ripley's singing "you are my lucky star" over the countdown is just something else :)

Crew Expendable completed. I put aside an hour or two to be able to finish this - it certainly wasn't needed as i finished it in 20 minutes!

Very short, but the alien was on my ass the entire time.

i started playing this again last night, i completed it ages ago.
i have flown through the missions upto now.

not had to encounter the alien properly yet and not looking forward to it either lol.

game is gripping.

Last survivor done - even shorter :(

But after activating the self destruct, that got a little intense - my motion tracker was up and down like a chav's knickers.

Treated myself to some of the DLC and currently playing Crew Expendable. Any tips for getting through the primary air shaft? I seem to run into the alien no matter what corner I turn. Is there a certain route you need to take? Also, the flame thrower doesn't seem to be effective when you are in the air shafts - is that right or am I just not firing quick enough?

The way I did it - stay where you are until the alien comes to get you. When it does, blast it with the flamethrower and then start to move. Just listen to Lambert. She will give you directions. You should have enough time to get out without seeing it again.

Thanks. So does the flamethrower actually work in the air shafts? Every time I've tried it the Alien just kills me anyway...

I bought this a while back and have been playing it for a few hours here and there over the last week or so.

I can see that it's really amtospheric and builds tenson really well. I was just thinking I'd really get into the whole thing, but...

I've got to the stage where
you meet the first few armed humans and then have to lift the security lockdown, at which point the xeno drops down from the vents.

The first part of this
where you need to evade the three or four armed humans
took me four goes before I figured out where I needed to go and got there without dying. The second part
where you need to evade the xeno who's just killed them all
I just failed for the first time.

So the last time I fired the game up, I played for about an hour, but 30-40 minutes of that were repeating parts I'd already played through after I'd died. Now this is something about limited save games (and rogue-likes) that I just can't get on with. TBH, I'm about ready to call it quite and uninstall it. I just can't be doing with being put back 10 minutes of gameplay or more over and over again, espcially when the alien itself is so hard to predict.

Is the whole game like this? Or does it get less likely I'll have to replay large sections as the game goes on?

This frustrating repetition is pretty much a deal breaker for me. I get that it would decrease the tension if you could quicksave, but at least some more frequent autosaves before key points or being able to use save points sooner after first usig them would make it less repetitious.
