Alien: Isolation...

DOnt think Ripley ever had a sidekick, so coop would feel "wrong".
Totally removing the horror aspect of the game at the same time.
Imho Alien Isolation is not a horror game. Unlike Resident Evil 7, there is no constant stream of gore, guts, rotting flesh, dismemberment etc in AI. Instead it is a classy stylish thriller, strictly in the theme of the original movie.

Its in the genre Survival horror so it's a horror game by definition. What I meant was by having a coop player you would be removing the tension between alien appearances which is what makes the game what it is.

I've looked up wiki and "Alien is a 1979 science-fiction horror film... ", so ok, I retract :) I'd still make a distinction between Alien's type of "horror" and (eg) ResEvil7's though.

Not if your both trying to sneak by without getting caught by the Alien, one of you is making noise while you are being quiet then telling the other person on the headset to be quiet while you both anticipating the Aliens next move and listening for him coming after you. I think it'll be good and tense for 2 players both relying on each other to help and be quiet.

I do agree to some extent though and it is best kept as single player and keeping the theme of Alien (movie)

Really wanted to play this but had to pack up after an hour. The flickering atmospheric 'videocassette' effect that they put into the map screen made me feel nauseous. Unfortunately no option or mod available to change it.

The one thing I'd love to have added to this game is co-op. Would be amazing doing it with a friend.

Well the original story did have a part in the game where you would "team" up with Henry Marlow and Weights I believe where you would have to work together to complete objectives, like setting that "trap" in the medical section.

They could had added multiplayer in the Survivor modes. They could had used the Station and DLC maps and combine them and have players playing the different characters in the game starting in their sections competing against each other in finding supplies and completing objectives while trying to survive against the Alien, I believe the game The Last of Us had a mode like that?

You could try to work together or fight each other.

Could even add a mode where a human player played the Alien who would hunt the human players in this mode or in single player online mode. It would need to have restrictions. Like you could only allow the Alien to roam the corridors for like 20 seconds before he is forced to the vent, but if the human player made a noise, shoot a gun or something like that, the Alien player be allowed to drop down and hunt the player.

Just a possibility, anything is possible. :p

That said, this game is an masterpiece without any of the above.

Must try and pick this game up again. Tried a few times but found it so boring. Got I think to point of creeping around trying not to let the droids detect me, yawwwwwnnn.

You're not embracing the fear - you've got to become immersed and feel that it's you and if you get spotted you're likely going to die. If you can feel that, you won't be bored or yawning - I was on edge throughout the whole game.

There's definitely something to this. I was close to giving up due to frustration with having to repeat sections after seemingly unpredictable stealth fails, as my posts above show. But... I did persist and I'm now finding it one of the most atmospheric and tense games I've ever played. It would be interesting to borrow my wife's Fitbit to monitor my heart-rate during Alien gaming sessions...

Edit/addition: and I just played 45 minutes of the medical bay level! Man, you guys were right about that. So damn tense. I don't think any other game I've played has managed psychological tension so well. I hope I'll sleep tonight!

Yip - now you're experiencing it the way it was meant to be. I never felt such a sense of achievement for completing a game as I did with Alien Isolation - it really is such a tense experience that you feel brilliant for managing to get through it!

Indeed! I just finished the medical bay mission with only one death (before I really realised what was going on). After that: so careful, so slow, so scared...

I consider this up there with my best ever gaming achievements! :)

Not many know this, but if you see them red oxygen tanks and silver gas tanks laying around the station, you can shoot them with the pistol and they will explode. If the Alien is caught in the blast, it will scare the Alien away like the Flamethrower.

Any other enemies like the Working Joes or Humans, it damages them or kills them.

Can make the game a lot easier if you use them.

Since you finished the Medical Bay section, you remember the first time you saw the Alien come play? Well... the place he drops down, there is an red Oxygen tank right next to him.

Agree with above posts you have to immerse yourself in it to get the most out of it, otherwise like people have said, they will get bored.
The only gripe I have is that nearer the end it's very dragged out.
