Alien: Isolation...

What did you reckon when you got it working? Much better? Dunno why it’s giving you grief but then I run a really vanilla Windows with nothing extra running at all apart from the temp monitors.

Night and day. No aliasing that I could see. Then it stops working and it's fugly again.

Ummm, I have just installed AI again and the jaggies seem a bit smoother then what I remember. They are still there though, but as someone pointed out, maybe jaggy edges are there for a reason, are apart of the game?

I forgot how frustrating this game is. I spend half my time sneaking past the annoying Joes, just to be spotted by them from another room. There's literally nothing you can do sometimes; currently I'm at point where I'm working my way back, and the only option is down a straight corridor with zero vents etc. And what lies between me and my destination? THREE Joes! God I hate them.

Am playing on Nightmare and am at the Reactor Core. The bit that's outside with the big gantries.

I enjoyed it on Hard. I had some bolt gun ammo and some shotgun. Now I've got 1 bolt gun round. Which isn't enough to kill these Hamzat Joes even with a headshot (I used one when I first got the gun to kill the Joe that guards it). I've found one more which I still have. I have 12 shotgun rounds but I've not managed to kill one Joe with them. My health is so bad I can't get into one fight with a Joe without instant death. I have a pipe bomb built but not enough scrap to craft it.

I need a perfect run or I'm screwed.

Noise makers are your friend.

Got through it. Realised the problem was I was playing in eyefinity in with a card that just wouldn't do it on that level. It works fine apart from hitting anything. It really was a nightmare when I shot them and they kept coming at me!

So without eyefinity 2 of the Joes dropped with 3 shotgun rounds. The other 2 needed 4, I ended up using all 12 shotgun rounds and my last bolt gun round and then stupidly used a pipebomb to attack the last wave of them when I could have just run around. Grrr. Anyway. Am through it. With pretty much no weapons other than a healthy stash of revolver rounds. WU troops beware!

I need to go back to this. I bought it at launch to play in VR.. i have still not finished the "free" preorder content yet. it is bloody terrifying and deserves it pet name for those playing in VR...... (hiding in a cupboard simulator!)

Never getting a sequel :(

While the film franchise continues to lay dormant in the wake of Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, the Alien brand at large is being expanded in some interesting new ways in 2019. As we’ve recently learned, a comic called Aliens: Resistance will serve as a sequel to video game Alien: Isolation, and Amanda Ripley’s story will also continue with mobile game Alien: Blackout. There are other Amanda Ripley projects that are reportedly going to soon be announced in celebration of the original classic’s 40th anniversary this year, with many believing some sort of TV/web series is coming. But it seems a movie isn’t on that slate. 20th Century Fox’s FoxNext has just told Variety that the current Amanda Ripley initiative is *not* tied to anything on the feature film front. So don’t get your hopes up there. FoxNext also told the site that “Alien Isolation 2” is not in the works. One Alien project that is definitely in the works, however, is a brand new “massively multiplayer online shooter for consoles and PC,” now being developed by Cold Iron Studios.

Crew Expendable DLC is amazing in VR on this. That crawling down the vents knowing your face is going to be ripped off at any moment. Proper brown trouser moment everytime :)

Also I'm not really to bothered that there will be no follow up. I just keep going back to it and enjoy every moment, every single time. I think they hit the nail on the head with this game and any follow up would probably be a big disappointment. I say leave the series as is.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I don't see what else they could do with a sequel which wouldn't be more of the same just in a different setting. They can't give Amanda guns as then it would become an FPS. They can't have more aliens as that would mean you'd need guns to deal with them all.

Oh man, that bit where there are loads of face huggers would be terrifying in VR.

Whats the dlc like for this game? I was hoping we might get a sequel, but as it seems very unlikely now I think i'll have to settle for playing every last bit of the game I can.

The two stories DLC are worth a play if you can get them for cheap. (Well you can get the whole collection for peanuts at times.)
But I never really liked the survival modes or whatever they are called and the other 5 DLC are maps for that.

There was a book released called River of Pain, it takes place at Hadley's Hope, the setting for Aliens before the outbreak. I listened to the audiobook on Audible(it's a full cast dramatisation) and it was really good. It would make a really good game.

Yeah it's excellent, it's part of an official canon extended trilogy. It's really interesting seeing how the colony got over run.

It could easily be adapted in the same style as Isolation from the POV of the main book protagonist.

Dis anyone ever ride the alien adventure ride at American adventure? It was one of those 4d things with a big screen and moving seats and stuff. Iirc there was a drop ship moment from aliens as well as a ride in the car ripley drives. That was cool.

All 3 of the audible trilogy books are pretty awesome, fills in a lot of the timeline in between the Alien and Aliens movies.
