Alien: Isolation...

Sounds promising to me:

Is Alien: Isolation for everyone? Perhaps not. If you demand reassurance, telegraphed threats, predictable solutions, and an inherent, hand-holding sense of ‘fairness’, you might find the experience too much to handle. But those of you brave enough--those of you tired of existing video game approximations of survival and horror, and craving a real test of your skills, instincts and nerves--will find a bounty of thrilling, engrossing, profoundly fulfilling rewards. If you truly embrace it, then during its most powerful moments, Alien: Isolation will probably make you feel more alive than a video game has in years.

Seems to have polarised the audience when it comes to reviews. Some reviews give it a still respectable 6/10 score, which lets face it, is still easily playable. Others however are giving it 9/10 and "must buy" ratings.

Think its going to boil down to what you expect from the game. IGN criticised the length of the game saying its just too long for what it tries to do. On the other hand, if it was too short, they'd also criticise it too. I'm still very much looking forward to playing it though.

To be honest it's slightly refreshing for all of the reviews not to be "here's your money" all excellent after the usual trade embargo.

No it was dropped eary in development IIRC.

Smoking Bun on neoGAF sums up current review highlights:

The conclusion seems to be this is old school survival horror and Nintendo hard. And all the kiddies are crying because "Mommy! Where are the direction arrows and talkative invulnerable NPC companions? Where is health-regen and 3 second auto saving? Why can't I aim down sights?"

Bravo SEGA, you published a AAA game for the indie crowd.
Amnesia: Dinner for Xenomorphs should be alternate title of this game

While Agent Gibbs adds:

Wait so the general problem that the "average" reviews have is the Alien us unpredictable and with long check points it makes the game hard.................

WUT?

if the AI had been easy to predict and its had saved every 10ft theyd have said the game was too easy....

Sounds good to me then! can't wait for it to arrive! so its Aliens Dark souls (and some how that bad, what could be missing, oh weapons....generalizations on the reviewers wants and desires forming)

From everything I am seeing and reading so far these 2 opinions seem to sum up everything nicely.

A well rounded classic horror game with "Nintendo" difficulty.

Good.

Very good!

EDIT***
GreenManGaming have just emailed me my 2 Isolation STEAM keys, woot!

Well too late for me to cancel my Game exclusive edition with 2 pieces of DLC is dispatched now.

I think the negative reviews are not from the PC version that is the 1 true edition to review IMO ;) as the consoles have lower res textures & FPS issues.
