Quick question:

Is HDAO better than SSAO? In order of selection it goes:

Off > HDAO > Standard

And is SMAA T2x better than T1x? In order of selection it goes:

Off > FXAA > SMAA T2x > SMAA T1x

Ive always known settings to go from left to right, left being lowest and right being highest. I figured HDAO and SMAA T2x to be the higher values???

Oh my god, the first time you meet the Alien just as your waiting for the transit lift, I felt just like Ripley in Aliens. I was like "Come on god damn it" lol...talk about building the tension with the sound effects and music whilst you wait lol. Brilliant

That moment was pure amazing! im such a huge fan of the movies and that was just perfect. Trying to do the code at the door with the alien behind you and then it spots you lol really intense. Everything I want an alien game to be really.

The settings are abit messed up T2x is the higher and better setting and HDAO is the better setting aswell. Its like the FOV slider... its backwards.

HDAO is AMD only I think. SSAO is for Nvidia. T2XAA is best for Nvidia but all Nvidia AA does not seem to make any difference for me on a GTX 780 Ti it seems broken right now not detecting the flags properly.

I've found the in game AA setting to be poor too.

Have you tried forcing some kind of AA with NV control panel (or better yet, using DSR)? I was thinking of trying the same in CCC, just not got round to it yet.

Yeah the reviews where mixed... some reviews loved it and some not so much. Being a huge alien and aliens fan I love it. It very much captures the atmosphere from the original movie and the graphics and sound are superb.

I mean just look at it... It captures the look of the movies so well.

are you running any SweetFX matson? I'm using the K-Putt one, its not to bright but just improves it a little. Also, are you throwing any SSAA at it via RadeonPro or CCC?

No sweet fx. All settings maxed out apart from Chromatic aberration which I have turned off. I don't like the weird blue and green effect it gives. Doesn't look very natural.
Running the game with a single card as Tx2 isn't available when I use crossfire only Tx1.

no SSAA or anything in CCC just those settings and 3440x1440 res and Gamma in game set to default.
FOV set to default too at 75 it looks too weird and odd for me in this game.

yeah i dialled mine back to 55 FOV, happy with it there. Turned off motion blur and chrome nonsense as well.

Im trying to force 8xSSAA but then im only on 1080p screen, both cards working very nicely though via the profile AMDmatt pointed to. I'm not to sure the correct amounts of AA are being forced though, hard to tell. What are you setting the SSAO as, Standard or HDAO?

Is forced SSAA actually working? I tried to force it in the CCC the first time I played and there was no fps difference and no difference with the jaggies so it looked like it wasn't working.
I just ended up using the in game AA.

Chromatic Aberation is this apparently.... "the effect produced by the refraction of different wavelengths of light through slightly different angles, resulting in a failure to focus." In other words it looks stupid in games and just blurs things. It adds a weird colour outline to things.
