Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

Haha. He knows I am joking. Obviously the vrr implementation is not perfect which is a shame. But seems to be good enough for me.

I have noticed some minor flickering in the Mortal Kombat 1 menu. But is really is a tiny amount that it is easy to ignore. Not noticed it while playing the game itself which is what matters.

Should install Mortal Kombat 11 and see what it is like in the menu of that as that is the one I remember having the flickering on my ultrawide before it got the firmware update.

Talk about firmware, forgot to check which one the unit I hit is on. I just set it up and did windows hdr calibration.

Had a quick go on Cyberpunk. Did not notice any flicker. But was a very short play session. Wanted to see the graphics mainly.

Not sure what it is about that game that simply does not call me to play it.

I think I just need to start fresh one day because my current save has everything completely done and the world is just a bit boring unfortunately.

DLC?

Can anyone tell me how to stop that Alien command centre reinstalling itself please.

I don't think you can, somehow Dell is enforcing a first time auto install through Windows Optional updates, I guess there might be a group policy setting in Windows that takes priority though and disabled auto updates for optional components.

Edit*
yep:

Turned that off and let's see if it happens again.

Worked for me

If game doesn't support HDR natively then use RTX HDR (hdr on in windows with the broken hdr turned off in game), nearly as good as the native HDR support and sometimes, better.

On the subject of hdmi Vs dp I randomly saw this on the monitors specification page:

1x DP 1.4 (HDCP 1.4 & 2.3)(Supports up to 3840 x 2160 240 Hz, DSC, HDR)

2 x HDMI 2.1 (HDCP 1.4 & 2.3)(Supports up to 3840 x 2160 240 Hz FRL, HDR, VRR as per specified in HDMI 2.1) (including 1x HDMI 2.1 FRL with eARC - to support Dolby ATMOS signal pass-through)

I know what DSC is but what's FRL? (Fixed Rate Link)

It seems like HDMI supports more things than DP.

Why is VRR only listed under HDMI?

It is tested by HDR experts.
