Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

The 32" 16:9 really made sense today as playing Echoes of Wisdom at 4K via emulation at this vertical size really is something when sat at the PC. 34" ultrawide just doesn't have the same effect due to the reduced height.

32" 16:9 is life :D

At this p[oint I may just stay put with 16:9 and just progressively upgrade when they finally eliminate VRR flicker :p

My next upgrade will likely be in two and a half years or so.

Sell before warranty runs out. Add £200 or thereabouts and upgrade. New tech, fresh 3 year warranty. Lovely jubly :D

I think this is probably what most 'enthusiasts' will do - because realistically 4k is absolute top dog for a resolution and 240hz is really a comfortable max of what you need (saying this on a 360hz panel currently). So the next 'upgrade' is going to be inherent features that just improve the experience. Removing VRR flicker, better handling of sub-pixel layout (although at some point Windows may finally cover this) and then generic/general OLED care improvements to minimise/stop burn in.

I'm happy on my 1440p 360hz OLED - but I'm definitely increasingly tempted to go 4k 240hz.

4K is where it's at. Join us :D

As a side note guys Sony have offered to send me their new 27" 480Hz OLED (info) which I'm intrigued to check out as it has BFI type features for motion smoothness, something current QDs don't have.

Potential to go back to a dual screen (but OLED) setup is rather strong right now :o

Soon enough everyone stil battling with IPS glow and VA tinge and TN everything will realise that OLED is the way to go
I wonder if we'll see 24" OLED monitors in the next few years as I think that'll then grab those ultra competitive players that stay on 24/25" at 1080p - or maybe 1440p at 24/25" at some stage.

Price is also the big difference too and I'm not sure OLED monitors will drop to an 'affordable for all' price in the next 2 or so years. Right now you can grab an IPS 240hz 1080p monitor for around 180 quid - or Alienware's 360hz 1080p IPS is 299. Compare that to Alienware's OLED 1440p 360hz which starts at 799 (but is on offer most of the time for around 700) and it's still a pretty big leap.

I think once those two things are addressed we'll see a lot more people move to OLED monitors.
