Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

On performance front too, it's weird as in some games, my fps is actually much the same or better especially since can even now use ultra performance mode dlss (with e preset obviously) and still have it look at the very least as good as 1440p when using dlss quality.

e preset ?@Nexus18 Are the presets you use for DLSS Tweaks ? Do most people on here use the game title’s inbuilt DLSS settings or use a external program ie DLSS Twesks , cheers.

Yup all through dlss tweaks, just switching the default preset to "e" preset.

And dlss swapper to switch out for the latest versions of dlss i.e. right now 3.7

Is this the thread where we can discuss the AW3423DWF as well?

Just received it, super happy. I have plugged in a laptop though and I am not getting charging down the USB-C cable. Is this normal? I thought it had PD up to 65w.

Ok so for proper productivity like video editing, the QF is better than the DW thanks to the extra height. The timeline on ultrawide is obviously a greater benefit, but with the extra res, the 32" actually has more timeline in view than the 3440 ultrawide. The height also means 16:9 videos I record have more on view so I cam trim and edit with greater crop than on just the 1440 pixels and shorter physical height. All my recordings at 4K 60fps and this seems to be more responsive on a 4K panel in Davinci Resolve too especially seeking around in the timeline with multiple clips cut and edited in there.

Yeah no going back to 34" ultrawide, and again, 39/40" ultrawide is what's needed to match this level of productivity along with the extra H-res of ultrawide.

Knew you wouldn't be sticking to 16.9 for long :p ;) :D Hopefully the new 21.9 panels won't be a fortune but as we have seen with the current alienware qd-oled, probably won't be long till drop in price to <1k anyway.....

Think I'm going to keep to the aw32 now, bigger screen area, 240hz and 4k (not having to faff with dldsr) in newer games outweigh the benefits of the aw34dw 21.9 and gsync ultimate module pros.

I never said otherwise though, I said from day 1 that the proper size for an ultrawide to match the 32" 16:9 4K is 39/40" and I'll be back on 21:9 when that size with the same specs or better is out :p

This is why I'm leaning towards returning this panel, as good as it is, ultimately it's not where I want to end up.

Back using it today, going to spend as much time with it to be 100% sure

One thing worth keeping in mind is that the aw32 will hold its resale value better down the line than the aw34 with it being 3rd gen and probably more sought after Res etc. a year or 2 from now.

Monitor is flashing green led. Can't turn it off.

Is it doing a pixel refresh or something?

Ok so eventually it's stop flashing green and the monitor is off.

I think I need to rtfm on how this works.

---

Can someone tell me how this works... after a few hours when the monitor goes in to standby (in other words pc is off) the monitor will go in to pixel refresh mode where the panel is off but the power button is blinking green.

Is this correct?

Are there any any other modes it will automatically go in to?

Really tempted to get a AW3225QF but the curve is putting me off. I've only ever had flat panels before. What are people opinions on the curve?

I'm planning to keep my current display as a secondary monitor in portrait aspect, but i guess a curved monitor will make this difficult?

The curve is 1700R, it is largely a non issue. All other monitors use a 1500R or tighter and are noticeably distracting. 1700 and 1800 are enough to be invisible fairly quickly.

I was concerned about having a curve display at 32", but in all honesty it's great, I now prefer it.
