Amazon Fire TV

I have the 4k, not too bad, only complaint is the variety of apps and features lacking compared to the competition and the remote has no volume or TV control.

So with FireStarter blocked and the Recent Apps list being unreliable, what's the best way to get a Kodi shortcut either on the front page, or on a Home button shortcut like FireStarter did?

Use the new firestarter called appstarter and set it to open with 1 click of home where you can access everything

Does anyone have wifi issues with a Fire stick? I grabbed one on Prime day but it cant hold a stable wifi connection, get connected with problems every few minutes. Either on 2g or 5g. Amazon have sent me a replacement to try but from googling, it seems lots of people have this issue so I don't hold much hope. Shame, as its a great little device.

I get a very weak signal on the 5ghz band but 2.4 seems to work okay. don't get a great connection speed though. My phone in a similar position has no issue picking up with 5ghz band

mine seems worse on 5ghz too. im putting my connection issues down to the bt home hub though.

Firestarter working again? Sweet

I'm running a sideloaded Kodi but not updated to latest version yet as working perfectly, although one or two addons require updating regularly.

They run Kodi flawlessly, the icon won't appear in the main screen or recent apps.

I've got 2 4k's and both are fine with showing Kodi on recent and also on the Apps section. Running latest Amazon stuff and have got 15.2 Kodi.

HH5 5ghz is really rubbish. The HH6 has improved 5ghz but I still dont think its as good as 2ghz (and I've checked for local wifi interference too)

Should I see kodi as an app on a new 4K tv ? Or do I need to do something ?

Edit I'm being a noob sorted it.

You need ADBFire, the Android ARM version of Kodi and then sideload it.

There is another way where you can install ES Explorer (I think) and then follow some instructions.

It's all on You Tube.

Yeah figured it out...been a while since I played with xbmc lol :p

Anyone installed and configured RetroArch at all? I've setup the SNES9x emulator which runs nicely but Retroarch does pretty much every emulator. Bit of a hassle to set up though it seems.

AppStarter doesn't have Home Button detection so you can't do this.

FireStopper, the renamed FireStarter does, but I can't seem to get it to work, and the app keeps crashing when in settings.

So still no solution for either my Fire Stick or first generation Fire TV. On the TV I have Llama set to open Kodi when the saver cuts in but that's les than ideal and is the only thing that seems to reliably work currently.
