AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Well at least I've got time to figure out which cards work with which waterblocks..

give it a week, I'm sure block manufacturers will get more info soon.

I'm waiting on it too since we can't buy MBA 6800 XT and the only blocks that we have access to are currently listed as ONLY being compatible with this PCB.

For those who don't think this launch is worse than the Nvidia debacle... We were supposed to at least be able to browse the AIB cards today. These cards are so rare that theres no stock pictures to spare! I think we need a new word for something worse than a paper launch.

There's absolutely no way that anybody has RX 6800 Nitro cards for "slightly more than £400", since that's significantly less than the cost price direct from Sapphire.

I know you're trying to keep up with all of these posts and whiners so I'll be gentle

I'm begging Gibbo for a discount on the 5700XT Nitro I'm out of the 6800 rat race, quite literally done with it.

xx

Did the PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devil L.E. go on sale?

Listed in a couple of places but no stock. There's also a
PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Dragon 16GB OC

but no stock again.

If anyone ever get stock, what's the difference or are Red Devil and Red Dragon both purely mythical PowerColor products?

I know but I'm sitting here with a brand new system with a shiny Ryzen 5900x and a 4770 card in it :/
Im in the same boat, at this point if im having to spend £900+ for a 3080 f'it and hit a 3090. If I had time to wait i would but I dont due to health problems I really needed a card when I ordered on the 17th September, rather just get the awesome and enjoy it for a couple of months.

Or 6900XT when it's released (in tiny numbers most likely). With the MSRP for that one it's actually barely any more expensive than AIBs for 6800XT or 3080.

good point actually! Thing is, the other uk retailer doesn't even have any 6800 / xt's on their store yet, even after the first release. It took them a week to even list the nvidia cards and their a main uk street store. failz

3080 launch in fairness was a huge shocker because supply was thin, but we had 3080's in stock for launch and what blew NVIDIA away and all partners was demand was expected to be very high, but the demand was beyond bonkers, we sold like 10,000 cards in two hours, normally a strong launch will see 1000 cards sold maximum in 24hr-48hr period, yet we did 20x that in a shorter period.

So in fairness AMD 3080 launch was better, they had stock on shelf, this launch there is zero stock pretty much worldwide. :(

Stock is incoming, due next week but the numbers are tiny, to date so far we have shipped over 1500 on 3080 and have another couple hundred due in the next week or two, not great but at least in the thousands.

They are too expensive then.

Double performance of 5700XT, but double (or more) the price. How does that work? Where's the generational improvement?
Performance is not always directly proportional with the amount of memory, but generally the amount of memory has a LOT of impact on the price. Whilst I'm not defending or explaining the entirety of the price change. Doubling the amount of VRAM has a fair amount to do with it.

Well that goes without saying doesn't it but the 6800 XT being more expensive than a 3080 is... interesting.
If you watch latest MLID video he talks about this. Apparently Nvidia cards are more expensive to make due to the power requirements and margins are low. AMD cards a cheaper to make so AIBs are looking to mark up on RRP and recoup margin.
