**AMD Fiji Thread**

Anyone else notice during the AMD presentation the Microsoft guy said dx12 will ship with the OS and that there will be dx12 games before the holiday period but a few coming during the holidays and then obviously more after Xmas.

So really dx11 days are numbered now you think?

There are separate thread son ocuk to discus DX12 benefits. At the end of the day it tells you nothing about performance, Nvidia drivers have twice the DX call performance of AMD but the cards are almost the same speed.

Bit old but good read.. Having more draw calls allows for devs to add more into games without effecting performance or bottlenecking the api.

Okay, thanks. I think i've read that before but don't really remember paying attention to what it said.

Lets hops so.

2 weeks (if it is that) is well worth saving 100 quid for :p

But, how is the noise supposed to be so low on these cards if it's only cooled by a 120mm radiator?

If it means anything am using corsair HG10 and H75 fan speed is 1000rpm very quite and temps are very good avg different depending on game. Gta5 stay in high 60s.. But this could be even lower if I had the intake not blocked by 750D front panel.

Might be a daft question, but are there going to be Fury X cards from different AIB partners? I notice that there are several brands of the 295X2, but surely they are all required to use the same cooling solution on that and the Fury X? Or will we see premiums for a warrantied boost in clocks and differing guarantee periods?

I enjoy reading the OcUK forum, even though I don't post much. I just wanted to log in and say THANK YOU to the mod who suspended that D.P. fella.

The guy was doing my head in with his drivel. All he does all day long is try and put a negative spin on anything Radoen related. Geez, get a life...

Thanks again to the mods for fixing this thread. Hopefully we can keep it in track this time :D

Being able to make all light based effects cast light is a big visual bonus to DX12. Games will look far better just because of this. Considering how DX11 can only render a small number of Real light sources per scene. around 5 - 11 from what i have read. Whereas DX12 can easily render thousands of real light sources at once due to the lower overhead.

5 years, 5 years would be a good run for an air or AIO card tbh. If you get 5 years out of it you done well lol. If the warranty is 3 years etc than your set for that time anyway. AIO's don't leak or corrode in my experience. I've been using an Antec Kuhler for multiple GPU's for years. Never had any problems.

I get about 5 months out of card before switching to the next :p

Might be even less with Titan X.

well that's your own fault, nobody is forcing you to switch cards.;)

but switching cards is beginning to happen more often than it did 8 years ago

I bought an Antec 920 Kuhler after about 18months it leaked onto my GPU, where the hose attached to the rad, however i think the liquid is non conductive or corrosive as my GPU was perfectly fine after having a pool of coolant sat on it for a while.

Antec were brilliant and sent me a brand new Kuhler 950 in return, i recently removed it to try a Phantek CPU cooler instead, first thing ive noticed is the AIO was almost silent in comparison when just browsing etc only a slight pump noise.

While im hesitant about AIO coolers due to personal experiences, i dont think i would hesitate to use them on a GPU again, not when i can position the rads far enough away from the cards i reckon to not damage anything if they did leak (Enthoo Primo is my case)

I am buying a Fury and main reason is DX12.

Let me give a simple example why DX11 is going away and why DX12 is going to rock.

If you play project cars and some do and atm you have let say in example A 60fps and in example B 45fps.
Now when they patch the game when you have windows 10 then they add 30-40% performance.....it means
Example A 60fps dx11 and with dx12 78fps. (30%)
Example B 45fps dx11 and with dx12 60fps. (30%)

Now that means if you have a 290 etc..kind of card you get FREE performance boost from your current hardware that is reaching Fury fps today with DX11....its almost a whole new card in free performance in that game.

So does drawcalls matter?
yes absolutly.
:D

Its said the watercooled edition $650 is reference only no change allowed.
The air cooled $550 Might be but not sure if amd allowed it for that card.
Not enough Info on that atm.
24 June we know more

lol "I really don't see the excitement about draw call performance". And on that note, pack up D.P.

If you had any inclination as to what you were saying, you'd realise just how important this is to everyone!

Excuse my ignorance but isnt a 4K tv kind of pointless right now as i dont think ive seen anything broadcast in 4K yet? i could be wrong, i rarely ever watch TV except for football and Formula 1 though.

Also i thought 8K was big in development with that being slated as the next big thing with film studios etc lobbing cash at 8k development and cameras etc?

Sorry to slightly derail Flooper, but is Dx11 backwards comparable? For example will quite a few games get a boost or just project cars?
