AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

I name no names :p

I don't think the performance was the problem, AMD made it very clear from the start the 480/470 cards were going to be mainstream cards replacing the R9 380 cards. The problem was the price, everyone expected the 480 be around £179, but, they were over £200 apart from a limited number of 4GB cards.

That limited number of 4GB cards were actually 8GB cards with 4GB bios.
I bought mine on release day for £175 here on ocuk then flashed it to 8GB as soon as people found out that was the case.
Had it for a year then after mining with it for a few months I sold it for £310 on eBay.
Can't complain really regardless of the performance (not that I bought it for gaming anyway as it went in my HTPC).

I never forget all the lies they told about the RX 480. That is why I avoid that website like the plague.

Well I try to, but Loadsamoney makes sure I get to see their fake news here regularly :p

AMD even said Polaris would be entry level performance for VR,and the AMD entry level GPU for VR was considered the R9 290 by them.

Does anyone know when these cards are due now? Tempted by a 5700XT to replace my Vega 56 but can wait if these are this year?

with the corona virus going on il be surprised if we have good stock (normal rrp pricing) by end of this year on anything new be it amd, nvidia or consoles.

Hmmm, might keep my eye out for a 5700XT deal to keep the upgrade itch at bay if its going to be next year

not saying that will happen as who knows if the gpus themselves have been tapped out yet for mass production. let alone shipped to plants and 3rd party vendors.

I'm not fussed about June to August I don't game much when it's hot, I could be enjoying more performance now and next winter, or they come out over the summer and I regret buying a 5700 xt. wish these companies were more open with this stuff so it's easier to make decisions

1440p would be good to know what kind of increase in performance I would be looking at, I don't suppose it's anywhere near 25% ?

Would make it worthwhile if so

stock card to stock card it's around 30%. If your Vega 56 is heavily overclocked then a good chunk less as out of the box they are held back a good bit. It also depends on what games you are playing. The 5700xt has some very strong games and overall is more consistent in it's performance over GCN.

Thanks, its OC'd. Generally hits 1700'ish while gaming. Still worthwhile? There are other reasons I fancy upgrading inc I find the two fan cooler on the Pulse to be a little too loud for me and the red LED cant be turned off which is annoying

Imo i would say no it's not worth it as at 1700mhz your 56 is a pretty potent card. Later this year you will most likely have a much better route to jump onto with Navi RDNA 2and Ampere. If it's AMD you need then RT is also coming with RDNA 2 Navi so more patience i would suggest as hard as it is lol.

AMD hints are basically saying Q4 in plain speaking then add to that Coronavirus, supply and market conditions I personally think it could be 2021 now.

Well will see, in a perverse logic kind of way if people around the world are in any kind of self isolation the demand for entertainment actually goes up.

Agreed, Pornhub leads the way in freeing up content :p :D

I read about that today, free Premium for certain affected areas or something. Good on them if its true!

As for the 5700XT yeah I'm going to wait, my 56 does well although more power is always appreciated its not a big enough jump just yet so I'll go for a full ITX rebuild with Ryzen 4000 and RDNA2 and just be patient for now

its over 30% in most cases, i went from a vega56 to a 5700xt and dont regret it one bit. its such a good card.
