AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

That 3dmark score had better be wrong! :D

Techspot says, "There's 4GB of memory aboard this card, 5 TFLOPS of computer power, 300 GB/s of memory bandwidth, and the ability to process 4 billion triangles per second. The GPU itself packs a whopping 6 billion transistors, and is built to support 4K Ultra HD resolutions.". It doesn't sound like an overclocked 7950 will beat it :p

For what this is worth ( i have no idea :p) Titan only has 4.5 teraflops. :D

Did they say what cpu was used on the fire strike score? Or even what preset was used and if its an overall score or just graphics score?

AMD FX 9550 we 'think' at 5gz. Slide said 3dmark performance, but the numbers don't add up. The optimistic amongst us think its actually the extreme preset. :D The pessimists think an overclocked 7950 is faster than the 290x. :D

Pick your side or sit on the fence. ;)

I'd ignore the slide. None of the presentation talked about the architecture or the performance of the card really - it was nothing much to do with that.

Plus the slide kind of hints that the new card is off the scale of the chart they used.

All the specs they released last night means it has all the tools to just pip a Titan.

Ttflops, memory bandwidth, geometry.

The graph they put up on the projector is Fud.

I agree that AMD are holding back on the ACTUAL performance until the reviews are done as a surprise.

There's no way in my eyes that an overclocked 7950 is going to be faster, surely for the 290X to be their fastest card, it would have to be well over 8k in firestrike?.. i'll hazard a guess and say 10k on performance preset:D

I'm still disappointed with the stream though, looked very unprofessional and was cringing through most of it.

But i'm optimistic.. i think there's far more to the R9 290X than we've seen so far..

Didnt they say last night that the 290x is the fastest gpu out at the moment ?

If so that would make it faster than the 780 and titan.

I think it looks nice but as always i couldn't give a damn if it was shaped and coloured like a turd. Perform well and that's all i care about. Once its inside my pc that is where it stays until RMA time. :D

Lol mat. Still need more info. I was drunk last night and having fun being a pain in the ass last night. You guys are fun:) it's great to have rusty back to pick on:D
