AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Does anyone realistically think the 290x will be faster than the 7990? I guess not with the 7990 being a double gpu card but im wondering if it will come close. I didn't really want to go for a double GPU card with me having 5870's in crossfire for years and all the issues with stutter ect but since the 7990's are going up in price soon as the x290's are available i don't know which to go for lol.

Not a chance in hell, its on the same 28nm process, it has taken the 7970 GHz ed to get ahead/level with the 6990, whereas the original 7970 was a bit behind. So with out a process shrink there is no chance at all of it getting close to a 7990.

So basically for the price if you dont mind having a double GPU its much better to go for the 7990 now while the price is low as the 290x wont offer any advantage apart from being a single gpu.

It will have the new audio features, new crossfire functionality (bridgeless) and perhaps some more new stuff. It's speculated to be a beast under water as well but we are still waiting for reviews.

right, seems a safe bet
unless you really want the fancy positional sound stuff (which is only on the top card?)

If only there were benchmarks and actual specs lol. Its annoying because the 7990 are going up in price once these are available so basically id have to get one now. Im not really fussed about the sound features just want the most powerfull card under £500 really. Was hoping to keep away from a dual GPU card though.

Its not going to be as fast as the 7990, clock for clock it going to be <35%> faster than the 7970. IMHO

37.5% :p

On another point I was reading about the lack of xfire bridge and the article said support is through the PCI-E slots for 2 and 3 card setups. The question is does the card have 4 way support. Before everyone jumps in and says of course it has, remember NVidia does not support 4 way SLI for the GTX 780.

I do love all this speculation of 35% faster or 10% faster. Nobody except those who have these cards, has a scooby. Don't get me wrong, I am not moaning and I am just as bad when it comes to guessing. Damn, we don't even know if it is 512 Bit memory or mixed 384 bit with 512 bit...

So on this basis, I am going to say 25% faster :D

well i maybe will go crazy ang put the ****er on credit card even tho i got cash to blow. Cause need to work on my credit rating NO JOKE LOL...
