AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

that article is from the 30th september

Exactly. That's when the slide was leaked saying that the NDA would be lifted on the 15th. TPU infer from that that the card might also be released then. That's where the whole '15th Oct release date' rumour comes from. My point is that if there was never any evidence that the 290X would be released on the 15th, then the original rumour (that we'd get reviews on the 15th) could still be true.

Indeed, even Gibbo said back then release was expected mid to late October. If it gets to November and still nothing then yeah, maybe it's been delayed.

arc was tempted with a Asus Matrix - but also seen Gigabyte 280x for only about 20 quid more

be interested to see how you get on with the matrix

the Gigabyte I was tempted with as (half) decent RMA facilities, and oc'd out of the box its prob not far off the Matrix

Yeah, I did consider the 280X cards as well, though due to the 'possible' overclocking headroom the matrix has, I decided to go for that instead. God, I hope I don't regret getting an Asus card, lol.

I don't think you will. The matrix Plats are premium 7970's. Almost guaranteed to get 1200 core minimum.

sure you'll be fine :) my Asus Gene V has been a superb motherboard- great quality

ref the 290x - what do people reckon will be out first - the 290x or GTA V on PC ?we don't have release dates on either

at this rate the ps4 will be out first and my pc will be in the shadows for a while lol. As much as i hate crossfire im tempted to just get a 7990 instead >_<. Is the 7990 faster or slower than 2 x 280x cards in crossfire?

Someone posted "there is an NDA on the NDA", which made me laugh but seems to be spot on :D

Maybe the R9 290X has not got the performance after all

The only benchmarks we have seen (if genuine) have a R9 290X overclocked @1050mhz, is that before or after boost is the question. If it is before boost there won't be a lot left in the tank overclocking/performance wise.

I don't like it when manufacturers mess around like this, it's ok for me as I have one or two other cards to use but for someone trying to build or upgrade their PC it is a real pain.

Haha I saw that, oh well at least those of us with 780's and Titan's can enjoy the top spot for a few more weeks. Not long now until 290X could be crowned the new king, must be a painful waiting game for those who have pre-ordered.

this is killing me... it's the last time i preorder a pc part. I have ended up upgrading my mrs pc because my itchy buying finger hasn't been calmed .. Ah well at least she gets to enjoy the awesome 7970 deal

Where does one find these women gamers? I mean I know the odd few who like a couple of console games but I've never met a women who plays PC games
