AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Now AMD know the 7800ti is coming out I wonder if they will nerf the 290X untill after the 7800ti releases, then release a magic driver that boosts the performance by 10-15% like they did with the 7970

That would be daft and cost them sales. That happened with the 7970 but they were working with a new design but they should have it pretty much nailed from launch.

Frenzy i had xfire 4870 NEVER again i will touch that **** cause :
Driver problems crashing ect
Games using 1 card problem
Using 2 cards in 2D but only 1 in 3D problems
And biggest problem Micro stuttering i was fighting with that in every second game.

Ended up spending more time getting **** to work than actually playing games !!! After 2 months i sold both cards and got myself 6950 flashed it to 6970 overclocked under water and that was good enough till 79xx came out.
I know its 2 generations before but that destroyed any crossfire or sle for me. Rather pay more for less but play them games :D

Here is a question

If an R9 290X is about 37.5% more powerful than a HD 7970, will it really be able to catch a Titan using extreme settings and Hi Rez

Here is the table from the Heaven 4 1440p section,

The best HD 7970 here would have to be nearly 65% faster to catch the best Titan

Don't forget the 780oc is also a Titan slayer :D

when are new cards ever compared "Apples to Apples" ?

I am still not convinced that this will outperform an OCed 670 SLI setup, all that remains is the price, which will be a deciding factor, if its 450£ - count me in.

I keep seeing good gtx 780 card deals and don't buy them as I don't know what the price / performance will be for the 290x, I just hope I don't regret waiting. I would like a bit of time to review the benchmarks etc and then make a educated decision. Maybe AMD don't need our money :) or maybe just playing hard to get.

Obligatory, "has never had much of an issue with either xfire or sli" post.

Been using one or the other since x1900's

They'll have to lift NDA soon or the cards will be released before the NDA is lifted.
Although it would be quite funny if every owner had to sign an NDA agreement :)

I think the big question is when will swe clockers put up their review as they'll be the only ones to do proper tests that count.

*grabs popcorn and waits for LtMatt... :D*

*puts popcorn down as doesn't really like it :(*
