The 7970's also launched at $549 and the cheapest one was £455 at launch so to allow for the £ slipping against the dollar I'm going for a £479 UK price for the 290x.

You forgot to factor in the now standard "early adaptor" tax.![]()
No margin and import duties and shipping to add to the cost of that? Lets assume blanket 10% margin and app $30 taxable per card duties... makes it Over £500 based on that logic.
Anyway, price is a mystery.
Haha, it's true.. Oh well the Australian's have it worse than us. Their prices are literally rip off shockingly bad.
With these price leaks and Gibbo saying people will be happy with price, my bet is on,
290X coming in from £450+. Crazy to think of £450 being a good price lol.
I would much prefer £300 - £350![]()
Cant pull pussy in a banged up Escort tho.

The last card I bought on release in that price range was the X800 XT. Good times.![]()
Ive bought on release day before only to see prices drop quite a bit after a few months, not going to have my pants pulled down again thank you very much
Good luck to anyone willing to pay £500 for a GPU. If you enjoy it then go for it, I suppose.
But IMO these prices are crazy when you can buy an entire PS4 for £350. I know it's not as powerful but in bang for buck terms it's lightyears ahead.
Not even by a girl?
I agree to a certain point. I am pretty sure though that sony will make a loss on each ps4 sold just as they did with the ps3. Amd and Nvidia need to make a profit on there gpu's but sony make there real profits from the games and peripheral's sold for there system.
