AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Same card, they just automatically clocked the core to 1030Mhz instead of 1018 and the memory to 1300Mhz instead of 1250Mhz.

What software do you use to control the fan? My motherboard is incompatible with Speedfan, so I could only set the front intake fan to increase based on the CPU temperature or manually set it to run at whatever RPM I want.

Still undecided about rear exhaust vs front intake mounting of the rad. I guess I'll see how the new card performs first.

I have the MSI Gaming GD65 board and the bios software i find quite good for controlling the fans
if need be i could use the MSI command centre but I'm happy enough with the bios setting ATM

I have the GD45. The BIOS app is great indeed and no hassle (ok 1 reboot).

Command Centre, personally I do not like it, because it sits on the system memory trying to "control" the whole system. As idea is great. Shame the OC genie functionality is pretty poor if you want to fine tune the machine.

@toby3672

Toby, just overclock bit that 3770K and you will be fine :)
As for the rad, put is somewhere that is HIGHER than the graphic card and blowing cold air to the rad directly.

On the previous page you will see some of my findings with the rad using 1 and 2 fans.

To reduce heat you need to lower the mV. Use MSI AB, to be able to do so.

To be safe at stock speeds you will be looking for settings are -70mV 50% PL 1018 or 1030/1625.
(do not be afraid of the memory, crack it up to 1625).

Well I changed the exhaust to intake (in push/pull) with the new fans and it has had no affect at all..

Really getting to the point of just asking for a refund.

Under load the air coming out of my radiator (with the stock fan blowing out through the top with a 200mm fan on top of that adding a bit of pull) is already pretty darn warm, so I'm not sure any kind of change in fan configuration could really improve much on that already seemingly great heat transfer. I probably should try a vertical position behind the CPU too, though I'm expecting worse performance there (no extra fan, and warmer air from the CPU).

Managed to keep it at 65c with both fans plugged into my motherboard at 100%.. Kinda sad in my opinion. (sounds like a washing machine)

I was looking some of the big towers of the InWin series, and they do look really nice for watercooling.

One of them supports almost 5 rads with some modifications. :D
And still plenty of space in there....

my pc is open sided so i'm used to it already and the noise isn't too bad either, because you only hear fans if there's a grill too close.....but out in the open you'll be running far less RPMs anyway..........

water cooling ?.......it's only the GPU that needs Water.............the CPU wont get hot at all, only needs one fan at 700 rpm.........like mine.... the GPU rad will be far easier to cool out in the open

the Tubular D Frame is the quietest, the others magnify the noise...

The mini D Frame is the cheapest, but will require a mini motherboard..... i think

That's one HUUUGE box it comes in, for a minute I thought ocuk had kindly sent me 2.:p

hahaha I know the feeling. When saw it also I was in a big of a major shock.

When received the items with the card, got the 2 obvious big boxes from the reception at work, with the OC UK tape all around.

Opened them, in one were the Piranhas plus few more bits, on the other (pretty big box) the SuperFlower 1000W and a lot of padding. Had a wtf moment of where the card is.

I go downstairs, asked the receptionist and replied "yeah this box is for you also". I was in a bit of a major shock and second wtf moment. I got it upstairs, and my colleagues asked "you bought a new computer?"

Try to explain to them now that this is a graphic card only

Think its fair to say they went a bit overboard with the packaging, the cards only slightly longer than a 290 from what I've read, ok it has tubing and a rad but does the box have to be about twice as deep and twice the size just for that? Nice touch that the exterior box had padding in it. Not even opened it yet besides taking the sapphire box out of the main one, gonna wait till later when I can be arsed to install it. :p

tripple cooler !!!!! about the same size as mine, no yours is bigger, the 7990 has a very low profile cooler.............hence it runs so bloody hot

mind you, i still prefer it to those new Nvidia cards ;)
