It is indeed the CPU ! it was spiking over gpu few times and that's when the frame drop happened

Sorry for the bad image for some reason printscr screenshot and afterburner screenshots where not working....
And also the gpu is about centimeter above cpu on the graph when normal fps, I will test it on normal server to see.

Any suggestions ?

What resolution are you running? Because in that screenshot you're running 720P and what appears to be resolution scaling taking the resolution up to 1536x864. You should be running 1080P or similar in full screen mode, not Borderless or Windowed mode.

Mantle will only run in 64 bit mode.

Those screenshot don't work for some reason, I go 1080p/ultra/144 Hz/fullscreen
If mantle runs only on 64bit then I am running the game 64bit for sure.
I will try to do OBS capture from bf and post it on YTB today/tomorrow so you can see what it does.

Are you using the 14.12 Omega driver?

Were you saying you are unable to screenshot the game when running 1080p 144hz in Mantle? Hence you had to change the resolution to take a screenshot

Or were you saying the screenshot that Matt referred to, wouldn't work?

Basically the screenshot you took clearly shows the resolution ingame is set at 1280x720

I played fullscreen 1080p and tried screenshot with PrntScrn and that what it gives me...windows is rubbish with screenshots but MSI afterburner doesn't work, so rather then trying to wait for the spike to happened and mash a key I will try to make video.

Press the tilde key (left of '1' on the top row of your keyboard) to bring up the in game console and type render.screenhot. Press enter to take the shot.
Press tilde again to close the console.

The picture will be saved in C/documents/users/'your username'/battlefield 4/screenshots

Ok so this maybe possible but I have less than a second in order to capture the spikes, so I don't think that's an option,

tried bandicam and OBS to record video none of them works....

Checked if i run 64 bit (yup)
Disabled the in game origin (yup)
cores still unparked (yup)

Any ideas of a program that will make screenshots ? Afterburner/dxtory/bandicam/windows prntscr dont work.....
Also I will try uninstalling Msi afterburner as suggested somewhere on the internet.

Yeah, it might be awkward.
What you can do is type it in and press enter once, then all you have to do to take a quick screenshot is press the down arrow and then enter to take another, rather than typing it every time.

Dunno if that works for you.

I am getting quite a lot of throttling with my card lately. I am not sure what's sparked this off. I was sitting at about 69-70*c when I first got it.

But now I am finding that playing games (Dragon Age) is making the second GPU hit 74 pretty readily, and the GPU then clocks up and down. Going as low as 900mhz in some cases. The first GPU hits 72*c and also seems affected by throttling.

Not so great really. I thought I had pretty good cooling, on my Corsair Air 540. Got 3 intakes at the front, the H105 mounted at the top and the 295X2 mounted just below that. So all the hot stuff is near the top, and the card has lots of airflow. As do the tubes.

Well the cooling on this card is not exactly adequate, I've had a few custom loops and I would never try running 500 W TDP card on a 120 rad, 360 absolutely minimum but 480 would be much better. Of course on this card some parts are only aircooled unlike with custom you can get full cover blocks.

I also get massive throttling in Sleeping Dogs, that game is like Furmark of games. I got as low as 888 MHz in this game. Eventually, the card will always throttle unless you can use something like 3000-4000 rpm fans on the rad? :D I'd be okay with throttling, if the clocks stayed at 'base' clocks but it seems my card goes even lower, or does it?

try to switch to a better fan. corsair SP120 performance edition will do the job for ya. If u can do push-pull thats even better;)

I also switched to Sapphire 295X2 OC Edition Bios which provide more headroom for OC when using custom water cooling as u can use Sapphire Trixx and add more voltage than with MSI afterburner, up to 1.5v  :D
(~1.2v is default or slightly lower).

This amazing backplate is already at my home  It provides better cooling for VRMs thats why I preffered it more over the EK block.

Waiting for this waterblock to come, delivery due to be on Monday :)

Olala:p

PS: its a shame OCUK dont provide the backplate...

Hi Guys, got a slight problem that I hope you can help with

Picked up a PC 295x2 last week and I love it, a half decent upgrade over my 290s for a little more outlay :D

Only issue I have is that the 120mm fan on the rad has started to make a 'grinding' sound at low speed, I'm guessing the bearings have gone :(

It's not worth RMA'ing for this small issue if I can help it (and have tried a couple of other fans but the card can't seem to drive them :( ). Are their any other compatible fans that I can use with it that anyone knows of?

cheers

Si

Plug the fan into the motherboard ?

I must admit I do like the look of the aquacomputer blocks for the 295x2.

I'm really debating a custom loop including the GPU and have been looking at blocks like the aquacomputer ones and the XSPC ones.

I'm liking my 295x2 so far, got some decent performance out of it but keeping it cool is proving tough in my small enclosure due to a simple lack of space/decent airflow.

go for it mate. aquacomputer block is the best one I believe + active backplate is ++++
