GTX 1060 is GTX 980 performance, as long as there is proper support then 2X1060 would beat 1080 mate.

He does kind of have a point tho. It's not just that they've been making 290/390/480 perf cards for 2.5 years, but that the pricing hasn't shifted from one gen to the next.

Sure the price has come down since the 290 launch, but the 390 wasn't cheaper than where the 290 ended up, and the 480 wasn't cheaper than where the 390 ended up.

So all we've had is the normal decrease in pricing due to aging, and a decrease in power due to tech advancement.

What we haven't had is an increase in perf/£ due to tech advancement.

Well TBH they did offer a higher performance with Fury X, but it seemed more like an experiment with HBM than an actual stab at the high performance card sector.

Surely if AMD set the MSRP at $150 and are selling on to the companies like Sapphire etc at a price under that then the blame doesn't lie with AMD for the prices we are seeing. Or is my understanding of it completely wrong?

No it wouldn't. It would be about the performance of a 1070, for LOADS more money than just buying a 1070.

As for the 470, well it's not far behind the 480...
