AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

Wouldn't surprise me, it was nvidia that did the upgrade to it so likely had zero interest in coding for ray accelerators on amd cards.

When I first ran Portal RTX it would not load. Instead it said I needed to update the Nvidia gpu driver to play it. What that means is that it is not using standard DXR raytracing but is using something specific in the Nvidia driver to work. I suspect it's forcing software mode on non-RTX cards hence why AMD gpu's are getting less than 5 fps. Even Quake RTX runs at 50fps+ on a 6800XT.

Correction. On the witcher 3 subject:

The 4k60 on consoles is without any RT and any ultra+.

The RT mode drops the res to like 1200p at 30 fps and only has :

RTGI, RTAO.

No RT reflections or shadows.

I know we live in the days of fake news, misinformation and clickbait but you can do better than this. ZzZ

It feels like he wasn't even trying, just purposely trolling with lies, trying to claim a ps5 is running the game with RT PC settings at 4k 60fps

Wasn’t it using the tool they unveiled that is supposed to reshade older games?
It may well have been i seen a video a few days back on their YouTube showing some program they used to do it though cant remember what it was.
It's called RTX Remix, and yes the portal update was a demo of what the tool is able to do

$100 says the new driver doesn't change performance

Given past history, I would not trust anyone apart from regular posters on this forum. We need to give it 12 weeks for us to have enough data to give a more rounded view on how the card performs.

We have had people report stuff here that's not in the reviews, positive and negative.

On the negative side we had to wait 18 months for AMD to fix the 7970 drivers, on the positive side, the AMD Driver suite, its development team and the general quality of the suite is next-level from where we were in 2012.

The HD7970 was an epic card, served me well for 6 years.

Obviously there's no way of knowing how complicated it is to do but surely fixing the freakish clockspeed and power consumption when idle, playing video or simply being plugged into multiple monitors or different monitors has to be high on the list of priorities for the driver team.

Those things could be stacking on the actual power consumption of gameplay.

There will be another driver release on the 22nd December but its not down to be fixed until the new year (its in the driver release notes).
