AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

I’ve seen that. It’s vastly irrelevant. No mention of clear settings, no mention of what kind of FSR is being used, ‘up to’ garbage etc. No actual FPS numbers. Is it max fps? Is it average FPS? :)

No need to defend them. Benchmarks will be out and this will be old news. The cards are garbage compared to 4090. Most likely a good option vs 4080 but that’s more relating to the fact that the 4080 is garbage itself. Might force Nvidia to lower the price on those i guess?

4090 gets 2.65 better RT perf compared to a 6950xt

7900xtx up to 1.5x-1.7x compared to a 6950xt

G A R B A G E

Raster will be close but still lower.

Ps: spending 1000+ euros/dollars/pounds to get lower quality settings lel ( for those pretending they dont care about RT)
You're kidding with this hokum, right? You must be, good joke.

These cards slot in exactly where they were expected to be in the price/performance hierarchy that has been set. $900 for a card that likely equals nV's closest counterpart model i.e. 4080 with reduced RT capabilities. I loath stating this extraordinarily obvious statement: a $900 card should in no way be expected to compete with a $1500 card. Historically, we're back to the 3870 vs GTX 8800 (and 8800 GT) dynamic, albeit without mgpu.

Moreover, the 7900 xt/xtx gives me precisely what I was looking for (as stated in past posts): >50% uplift over 3090 with improved RT performance in the $800-900 range. It's exactly what I, and many others, are looking for. And for many, many people, a >£900 card remains irrelevant apart from it being a trophy holder.

Edit: I failed to add to the equation how much it sounds like RDNA 3 is going to beat Lovelace in power/performance.

We haven't seen the Nvidia or AMD equivalents of Intel's lower offering yet.

Talking of which AMDs real competitor should really be Intel as they're also the other major CPU manufacturer.

They get anywhere near Nvidia for less money/power I'd consider that a win. (Nvidia owner here).
It doesn't matter.

The fact is people are eating price rises.in cards like cereal, no one questioning the margin being made here by the companies.

We're all being taken for a ride as consumers. 4090 is an outlier as it's a titan level card and always been nuts.

We need GPUs that perform well at a more accessible price point
If price is anything to go by the 7900 cards the 7800xt, 7700xt and 7600xt should be priced well also Nvidia still have the lower tiers to release pretty sure we all was expecting Nvidia to increase the price of the lower tiers so will be interesting

Intel can't compete with 30 series or 6000 series so yeah

I'm still trading on historics.

7900 / 3080 level cards used to be 600 quid.

They're now 1200 (once we get our VAT and FX added).

Boggles my mind how people don't see that. Inflation isn't 50% . Shipping, component prices are not even up that much.

You're being ridden as consumers, it would be nice to see some pushback rather than herd mentality off the back of marketing spiel. This is no different to an Apple product now in terms of class, with insanely high margins being gobbled up by consumers.

The 7900 XTX is a good 8K level GPU with FSR so it is a TITAN level card too, man you guys are bad at reality.

600 smackers more? Nvidia take the L here. And no RT really is not a big deal in most games.

You mean 6800xt which was up against the 3080 and £50 cheaper , AMD didn't increase the price on the 7900 over the 6900

So if they do the same with the 7800xt with performance it could be interesting, I currently have 3080 Fe which I paid £650 so my upgrade options seem to be 4080 16gb £1269 yeah no thanks only other option I see is the 7800xt and will see if the uplift will be worth it , I play at 1440p 240hz

and I aint being ridden my limit is £600-£700

The only mental gymnastics here are done by AMD fanboys… every single new product launch.

They didn’t even compare it to their previous gen. Just RT being not even 2x. That should tell you how much confidence they DON’T have in their product.

:) :) :)

On the other hand, they will bring out their own frame generation fsr ‘wannabe dlss3’ which is good in case you can’t switch to a 4xxx card right now. Might force Nvidia to get some kind of frame gen working on older gen cards too.
The majority don't give AF about RT and it has limited visual impact in most games, it clears up the relfection problems in Resident Evil games and does nothing in games like Far Cry 6, SOTTR and some find it rubbish in CBP2077.

If you have a 3080, I really don't see why you need to upgrade. It will make much more sense to wait for the 50xx cards in a couple years when the 5080 will no doubt be more than x2 as powerful as your current 3080.

At least then the price increases will reflect the performance uplift.

But the idea that you put hundreds of hours into a game as many users claimed and praise the graphics and then when CP 2077 announces the new overdrive mod you praise it again while you can't even tell if the images you are comparing are ray traced or not, sounds funny to me. If the game looked awesome to you on a 3080 or 3090 then you will get pretty much the same perf on the new RDNA cards.
Yes I couldn't tell much difference in option from Psycho RT/Lighting vs Ultra, tbh I didn't notice a big drop in frame either with it on or off so just whacked it all on and left it at that.

The lack of performance benchmarks could be due to the lack on information on FSR 3, plus a good marketing tool, as everyone in talking about what performance could be, keeping AMD RX 7000 at the front of tech discussions. The other factor may be that AMD brought the RX 7900XTX/XT launch forward due to an earlier than expected Nvidia launch, afterall many speculated the RTX 4000 would not be launched until next year, and felt they had to launch the 7900 series early.

Also do not forget CES 2023 is in the new year so they need something to talk about then, and may have been the original launch for RX 7000, so FSR 3 will get more detail then and most probably see the announcement of the 7800XT and possible the 7700XT then.

Yeah I know but after 2 years get that upgrade itch we'll see no big deal if I don't , my limit is £600-£750

Well AMD seem to be doing what we all want keep the same price and increase performance instead of hiking up the price with performance increase I know which I prefer

Sorry, but CP 2077 @ 4K with RT @ 'psycho' is a thing of beauty, so are Control & Metro Exodus compared to their non RT modes.

None so blind as those that will not see.
The game is trash so I don't own it, however subjective opinions fly from oh it is amazing to meh it's ehh ok.. I guess.
