AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

I liked what AMD came up with, I don't care about Ray Tracing at all, I don't care about DLSS 3.0 fake frames and FSR either and I don't care about having the fastest card so i';m never going to buy a 4090 etc. So what AMD have produced is what I wanted really, cheap good rasterisation cards, which should mean I can buy one of the two lower cards 7800X or 7700X much cheaper than NV are going to offer...

And maybe that means NV push their own 60/70 cards prices down to compete.

:D
Exactly this. I'm waiting for the 7800xt and 4070 are announced/released.

From amd website: 7900XTX is up to 70% faster than 6950xt and 7900XT up to 50% faster than 6900xt.

This means the 7900XTX is up to 30% faster than the 7900XT. Why the F would anyone buy the XT card, the $899 price is too high it doesn't make sense
Make it 300 and people may buy it.

Makes a very good point in the video. There shouldn't be a $100 difference between the 7900XTX and 7900XT, there are pretty big differences between the two.

The 7900XT would be dead on arrival if you know stock of the 7900XTX wouldn't sell out.
It is because they are only wanting to sell the highest card, the 7900xt is there to make the xtx look better : look how much extra perf you get for only $100! :)

I guess I can frame my aversion to the prices another way.

People can obviously pay what they want, so if £2000 for you is value to get usable frames at 4k or 1440 ultrawide then that's fine.

For me, I'm willing to pay a maximum of ~600 for sort of 90 FPS on cyberpunk with good settings on 3440x1440 (don't believe I can get this at that price point yet?)

I expect many others are in same boat. I suppose the sum up is the market isn't where I need it to be yet for high resolution.

Whats wrong with Nvidia driver CP? if it's not broke don't break it.

it's as functional as ever if genz brains cant handle it then that's on them and I guess who geforce experience is aimed at.

All the features are easy to find, they all have good tool tips
It's functional and it works but a front end that looks like it was designed for Windows 98 is hardly befitting a product that costs £2k.

Sure. Feel free to check my posts about the 4xxx launch as well. The paranoia in AMD fanboys is real.
You appear to have forgotten what account you are logged into mate. Because i did check and your first post this year, on this account was the 8th October in the AMD thread over two weeks after the Nvidia event.

P.S. you quoted the wrong post.

And? I don’t bother posting outside of gou launches around here. What is there to talk about?

Your point was I’m an nvidia shill. I’m bashing them just as hard as AMD as long as there is reason to. AMD simply has no product worth mentioning.

Idgaf if its AMD or Nvidia i just care about performance and features. If AMD brought out a gpu ******** all over NV with better raster , RT and features and it would cost 3000$ i wouldn’t care. in that case AMD would clearly be better and id be ******** on NV.

Point is AMD only disappoints every single year GPU wise.

But there is a whole thread on one forum, along with countless threads on other forums all over the tech web mentioning and discussing...

So why are you here, mentioning them?

Depends what you expect. AMD are primarily a CPU manufacturer, the fact they get anywhere near Nvidia surprises me.

The fact they do do both at the level they do is no doubt a good part of the reason all the consoles use them.

Will they ever beat the top tier Nvidia? I doubt it, quite frankly that bothers me not in the slightest.

I'm just awaiting the news and reviews on the 7800/7700s the 7900s are just a rough guide for me.

It doesn't matter.

The fact is people are eating price rises.in cards like cereal, no one questioning the margin being made here by the companies.

We're all being taken for a ride as consumers. 4090 is an outlier as it's a titan level card and always been nuts.

We need GPUs that perform well at a more accessible price point

I'm still trading on historics.

7900 / 3080 level cards used to be 600 quid.

They're now 1200 (once we get our VAT and FX added).

Boggles my mind how people don't see that. Inflation isn't 50% . Shipping, component prices are not even up that much.

You're being ridden as consumers, it would be nice to see some pushback rather than herd mentality off the back of marketing spiel. This is no different to an Apple product now in terms of class, with insanely high margins being gobbled up by consumers.
This is the thing that really strains incredulity for me as well. nV may have been throwing every strategy in their arsenal (inventing a few along the way) to raise prices over the past five years. Inflation has reached double digits. Growth in PC gaming interest, AI/ML, and crypto have driven demand (albeit now fallen off a cliff). Brexit and other tomfoolery by the govt has obliterated the value of the pound. Nothing merits a 100% price increase in four years for euqivalent-tier models.

And people are still lapping it up. I would have spit out my milk five years ago if you would have told me people were considering a £900 card as the value high-end option.

what if it beats the 4080 16gb which costs more at £1269 ?
