AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

They didn’t even compare it to their previous gen. Just RT being not even 2x. That should tell you how much confidence they DON’T have in their product.
Also they aren't comparing to intel on the charts, something AMD boys went crazy about everytime Intel had charts for their GPUs :p

I suspect it's going to get spanked in any RT games, probably be about on par with a 3080, this might be why people already keep saying "no one games with RT on" even though it's clearly going to become more and more prevalent in games.

it's like taking a time machine and claiming vertex shaders and pixel shaders is something no one uses and no one wants.

There's also talk of ray traced audio becoming a thing too

They literally had 2 slide comparing it to the 6950xt, their previous generation card.

It’s okay to admit that you didn’t watch the stream.
I’ve seen that. It’s vastly irrelevant. No mention of clear settings, no mention of what kind of FSR is being used, ‘up to’ garbage etc. No actual FPS numbers. Is it max fps? Is it average FPS? :)

No need to defend them. Benchmarks will be out and this will be old news. The cards are garbage compared to 4090. Most likely a good option vs 4080 but that’s more relating to the fact that the 4080 is garbage itself. Might force Nvidia to lower the price on those i guess?

4090 gets 2.65 better RT perf compared to a 6950xt

7900xtx up to 1.5x-1.7x compared to a 6950xt

G A R B A G E

Raster will be close but still lower.

Ps: spending 1000+ euros/dollars/pounds to get lower quality settings lel ( for those pretending they dont care about RT)

Unless Nvidia have made a serious upgrade recently AMD's front end/control panel is way better and very easy to use. The in game overlays is a nice touch as well.
Whats wrong with Nvidia driver CP? if it's not broke don't break it.

it's as functional as ever if genz brains cant handle it then that's on them and I guess who geforce experience is aimed at.

All the features are easy to find, they all have good tool tips

I remember your name now, you did the exact same thing during the RDNA 2 launch. Out of curiosity which Nvidia office are you based at?

Love the titles "AMD targets value"

Yeah value by offering cards at over a grand.

Sorry where's the value?

Intel £400
Amd £1000
Nvidia £1600
We haven't seen the Nvidia or AMD equivalents of Intel's lower offering yet.

Talking of which AMDs real competitor should really be Intel as they're also the other major CPU manufacturer.

They get anywhere near Nvidia for less money/power I'd consider that a win. (Nvidia owner here).

It is of course far better to spend 1700 euros/dollars/pounds to participate in todays handful of games with half baked ray tracing at enormous fps penalty.

:)

Sure it won't actually be a quality and well adopted feature for another 5 years but think of all the dodgy raytracing implementations and compromises you'll miss out on if you don't pay the premium right now.

erm dlss3.0 isn't even out for cyberpunk so there is no frame gen... amd "full motion frames" sounds like nvidia generated frames anyway and I'm guessing these numbers are with that turned on

also the slide says "Ultra rt" but pyscho is the current highest, over drive is coming when they patch in dlss3

look how much better RT overdrive setting will be in this reflection
ldOa222.jpg
People who promote CP "overdrive mode":
"I put 200 hours in CP 2077 on my 3090. Sure i couldn't crank every RT setting to Psycho but ultra reflections were enough for me, the game looks so amazing!"
Nvidia launches new card, New overdrive mod announced for CP.
"What the hell is that crap? Look how much shinnier the puddles look now. OMG i will spend the next year of my life as overdrive V". :)
Not to mention the picture is fake, no matter how much Nvidia fans want you to think that this is the difference overdrive mod will make, the picture above is not ray traced while the picture below is ray traced.

Nice. I can see why Nvidia pulled the 40604080 12GB, I can see these cards taking remaining sales of high end 3000 series. Dual shader pipeline reminds me of Ampere and seems like it'll be a pretty nice boost for realistic gaming settings. RT.. will have to see - potentially fits that 'occasional' use case, but still not enough for massive effects. AI engine.. potentially interesting - new upscalers down the line?

I'm disappointed they didn't release info about mid-range though - there's still an open goal there, but I guess they've realised cost-of-living probably affects that market perhaps more than high-end.

Hope someone does a PCIE scaling and resizable-BAR video like the recent one for the 4090 - those of us on older platforms need to consider which architecture is less affected.

Intel time for me I think by this point.

If price is anything to go by the 7900 cards the 7800xt, 7700xt and 7600xt should be priced well also Nvidia still have the lower tiers to release pretty sure we all was expecting Nvidia to increase the price of the lower tiers so will be interesting

Intel can't compete with 30 series or 6000 series so yeah

There's only one RT setting that goes to Psycho :p The other isn't an RT setting! But yeah on the 3080 Ti I had both settings on Psycho and was getting on average around 70-75fps with DLSS enabled. That for me was fair cop and to date is the only heavy RT game to not run above 100fps with everything maxed at 3440x1440 (with DLSS enabled). I will await the new DLC which is next gen only to decide if the GPU upgrade is warranted I think now.

But the idea that you put hundreds of hours into a game as many users claimed and praise the graphics and then when CP 2077 announces the new overdrive mod you praise it again while you can't even tell if the images you are comparing are ray traced or not, sounds funny to me. If the game looked awesome to you on a 3080 or 3090 then you will get pretty much the same perf on the new RDNA cards.
