Quite impressive for what it is aimed to do.
1440p gaming crown from those tests, damn close at other res.
Certainly vastly more efficient than those around it.
I'll stick with my 5900, but might have considered this if purchasing afresh.

impressive way to go out , on 6 year old socket  while intel is pushing clocks and power draw higher than before to eke out the last bits of performance and AMD doing it in another way wonder what the 5900x3d would have been with performance thats the first one they showed when started talking about cache stacking

SO by looking at the Tech PowerUp review teh 5800X3d is up to 1Ghz slower, aprrox £300 cheaper and about 0.06% faster than teh KS. Whiel also consuming less power and running on a 6 year old socket that is a much cheaper platform. Based on this AMD sending AM4 out with a bang

The difference in clock speed is nuts, normally in games the 5800X runs about 4.8Ghz but screenshots out there suggests the 5800X3D is only running at about 4.5Ghz, that compared to 5.5Ghz for the 12900KS which is no faster and cooking its self.

That IPC difference is 22%, and the 5800X3D is running on slow cheap RAM while the 12900KS is running on expensive fast RAM, its almost has if TPU did everything they could to hold back the wild stallions that live under that Ryzen Heat Spreader....... impressive stuff.

Role on Zen 4 :)

And its also 50% more expensive than the 12700f while being only 2% faster in games and getting demolished in everything else. Lol, yeah, great cpu

The 12900KS is £200 more expensive than the 12900K.

This nonsense of paying a more for a "Gaming Focused CPU" was started years ago by Intel, if you don't like it you should have started complaining when Intel started it, not just now that AMD are doing it.

But the 12900ks, although obviously has a stupid price, is faster in EVERYTHING compared to the 12900k. The 5800x 3d loses in 99% of scenarios, is 4-5% ahead in 720p games and costs 50% more. I don't understand how you dont find this absurd. Yes, if you have an am4 mobo already its an okayish choice maybe, but nothing to write home about. I mean 450euros is just outrageous when it gets creamed by the non 3d 5800x,let alone what the 12700f does to it.

Its the wrong question to ask, 16-20-20 are incredibly lose timings and that matters more than the clock speed, my 32GB kit was £90 and i can get timing tighter that that at those speeds. Its some seriously #### RAM he's running on that 5800X3D.

That's not a rebuttal, its just straw clutching.
