AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D retail processor has been tested ahead of launch

As if it was meant for them in the first place
I've been looking forward to downsize my daily driving rig into a more eco-friendly form. Thanks to your pro-AMD propaganda converting my religion a few years ago I'm stockpiling more and more AMD CPUs in my house :p

I had the hope that the 5800X3D could potentially defeat the 5800X in some specific non-gaming scenarios but even the overall gaming results didn't look like a huge upgrade over the 5800X (at 720p CPU-bound tests, without cherry picking game titles).

Gonna replace the 9900K with a 5700X, but still undecided whether to buy a 5800X3D just because it's meant to be rare (out of stock soon after launch I guess).

@Bencher 165 watts at 5.4Ghz. look at the screenshot. This CPU has a PL1 power state of 125 watts (Its given TDP), at 165 watts its 40 watts over at 5.4Ghz, the gaming benchmarks on the TPU slides are listed as "5.5Ghz", for it to be sustaining 5.5Ghz it would have to be running in PL2 mode at least, in other words MCE is enabled in those test, MCE enabled, which is the default on those motherboards, is overclocked.
So, and this is not how Wizzard would want his readers to see it, #### him, shill. It is an overclocked 12900KS vs a stock 5800X3D gimped by slow as #### RAM, it is in that way contrived to skew results.
What? You are comparing a manually overclocked 12900k to a stock 12900ks and assume they both consume the same power. Also, as per the official guidelines, 240w is the power limit. Pl1 only exists for oems, so the default behavior is 240w pl1=pl2

Hi there

Also its not a GPU, but the AMD Ryzen 9 processors deserve a mention as AMD are massively rebating us on them to sell way below cost:

Again I think this is some of the lowest pricing in the UK. :)

Looking very good so far, close enough to the 12900KS in gaming to make no difference. Easy choice if you're on AM4 and don't do a lot of production work.

The 2 year old architecture beats the competition, that's how work is done, can't wait too see Zen 4, i guess Intel know what Zen 4 will do to them so they increased clock of RPL to 5.8 ghz, we are back at pentium era.

Cool cool cool. What is 5800X3D stock looking like or don't you know yet? Plentiful or limited? When is the go live next week? 2pm on the 20th?

I have cheapo B550 motherboard from Gigabyte and a Ryzen 3600 (non X) and after seeing the reviews for the 5800X3D this CPU is probably my next upgrade once Zen4 comes out and these drop in price (hopefully to around £250ish).

For gaming, hardly any difference. It gets slaughtered in everything else though, due to only having 8 cores.

I feel the 5900x and 5950X are the real stars of the show, that's at these prices. Such an amazing deal for AM4 owners to upgrade to.

It's the fastest gaming CPU overall, at a fraction of the cost and energy usage. Very impressive considering the lower clock speeds, voltages and power draw vs the 5800X.

Which is what its built for. If you want a productivity CPU, you need to look elsewhere.

No sir. In the game you put into your graph, this is what hwunboxed has to say

When it comes to power usage, the 12900K pushed total system usage 12% higher in Cyberpunk 2077, which isn't bad given it was up to 16% faster.

You are talking about the 320€ 12700f? Yeap, too close to the 12900ks to practically make no difference :p
No, he's saying if you want the fastest gaming CPU you don't have to fork out for a 12900KS as the 5800X3D is just as good and if your already on AM4 it's an easy choice (whether to go with 5800X3D or full platform upgrade to Intel 129000KS).
