AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I know this is a 9800X3D thread but, pursuant to my previous gripe with HUB content, I see they've now done another pointless comparison of the 14900K and Ultra9 285K. We all know the 14900K is faster! They even say at the end that there are some improvements coming for the 285K which just renders this video even more irrelevant as it will probably all change soon.

If they're this desperate to put out content, how about doing a comparison of the 9800X3D against much older CPUs, like 4/5/6 generations old?
Many people I know only upgrade their machines every 4/5/6 years and want to know what kind of bump they can expect if they upgrade. Try finding any information on how much faster a 9800X3D would be than a 9700K or a 5600X for example, in real-world games with a decent GPU at a sensible res like 1440p.
That kind of info would be far more useful to the average person wanting to know where to put their money than endlessly rehashing what we already know.

</rant>
True but what is driving the sales of the 9800x3d? Is it the fact it outperforms a several year old CPU or the fact it faster than a 14900k at certain Res like 1440p or 1080p.

The AVG user don't really watch HUB they watch stuff like Linus and jay2cents.

Even if they upgraded to a 5800x3d or 12900k from a 7700k or whatever they would have seen large performance gains. Most people know even the AVG user knows for the longest of time intel produced the fastest gaming cpu's. Where brute force and sheer nuclear power station sapping power draw is how they maintained their dominance. Irrevelvant of the 9800x3d.

What has changed this narrative is now it uses less power and can still beat it at certain Res.

It is beating the 14900k that's why people want it. They might not necessarily game at 4k but I assume they most certainly will be at 1440p. And as it stands the 9800x3d is the CPU to beat at that Res

You are beginning to sound a bit of an echo chamber around here in this thread.

Another improvement to previous best scores. 5.85Ghz... @Robert896r1 @Poneros

Dawntrail 720P Laptop Standard Preset (SMT Off)

Cyberpunk 1080P Low Preset @5.735Ghz (SMT On)
Can you PLEASE post a benchmark for Dawntrail on 1080p "Maximum" preset without changing anything and for Cyberpunk with newest patch 2.2 at 1080p "Ultra Preset" again without changing anything as it is from the preset.
You seems to be the only one here with an 9800x3d and 4090 combo, so i am requesting some more realistic benchmarks, please!

The low interest in the HWUB comparison of 2 Intel CPUs says a lot. Back when I built my previous build, the tables were turned. I didn't even know what CPUs AMD had, let alone any interest in doing a build with them back then. Today, it's the opposite. Folks don't care what Intel has on offer (hence the low interest in an Intel vs Intel video) and honestly Intel isn't helping matters with the newest CPU being worse than the previous gen and the very bad and forgettable naming scheme.

At least with previous gens we knew what the CPU was when it ended in 900 or 700, etc. This is where AMD has done alright, when there's an X3D on the end, it's very obvious that the CPU is a 3D V-cache model and is probably good for gaming. And numbering the Ryzen 9s with 900+ lets folks know that they have more than 1 CCD/8 cores, for those who need high core count for productivity etc. The only worry is AMD went Intel with the naming scheme of the Strix point laptop CPUs, so now nobody knows what they are. They also messed up on naming stuff like the 8000 series, which further confuses people.

I hope folks enjoy the 9800X3D. I'm content with my 7800X3D, especially given the amazing price I paid for it. I'm also curious to know what AMD will do with the Ryzen 9 X3D chips, are they still coming, do they have 3D V-cache on both CCDs and how will they compare to this 8 core juggernaut?

When are these coming back into stock?
When AMD pull their thumb out their arse and make more.

I get the impression that they released the 9800X3D early due to Intels new CPUs.

They originally planned for this to be released next year, it seems like they made limited stock available now to go up against Intel and then thought "We didn't have to release this now as Intels current CPUs are crap, lets reduce stock and ramp it up next year when we planned"
